Why A Bluetooth Headset Is Unable To Connect

A Bluetooth headset can connect with any Bluetooth-enabled device

A Bluetooth headset uses the wireless technology standard to establish a short-range connection to another Bluetooth-enabled device and then broadcasts the audio signal it gets from that device. Before the Bluetooth headset will work, it must go through a pairing process to search for and connect with the headset. If your headset is having issues connecting, several reasons could be causing the problem.

Not in Pairing Mode

Your headset has to be in pairing mode before it can connect to another device. Since most Bluetooth headsets don't have LCDs, it can be difficult to determine if the headset is in pairing mode. Generally, the LED indicator flashes in a certain pattern when the device enters pairing mode, but different headsets have different patterns. To further complicate things, many newer headsets will only enter pairing mode if they don't detect a previously connected device in the area. Your best bet is to check the headset's documentation to determine get your headset into pairing mode and how the LED will flash once it is in that mode.

Incorrect Passcode

When you pair a Bluetooth headset, the device you're connecting the headset to will ask you to enter a passcode or PIN number. For the vast majority of Bluetooth headsets, this code is "0000," however, each manufacturer can use whatever code it chooses. Check your headset's documentation for the correct passcode if you have the manual available. If you don't have the manual, try "9999" or "1234," which are occasionally used. A few headsets even have their code printed somewhere on the device, such as under a removable battery.

Too Far Away

Bluetooth headsets are considered Class 2 Bluetooth devices, which simply means that they have a transmit range of around 30 feet, or 10 meters. Additionally, any obstructions like walls, windows or even your body reduce this range by several feet. If your Bluetooth headset isn't close enough to the device you're trying to connect it to, the pairing process will continue to fail.

Not Enough Power

When you try to pair your Bluetooth headset, the headset is forced to constantly transmit information. This constant signal requires a decent amount of energy to work properly. Most headsets should prevent you from entering pairing mode when the battery is almost out of power, but some may not. Plug your headset into an electrical outlet and let it sit for at least 20 minutes to ensure that it has enough power to complete the pairing process.

Too Many Existing Connections

The headset isn't always the faulty party when a connection between two devices fails. While a number of different reasons can cause a Bluetooth device to have pairing issues pairing, on many older Bluetooth devices, the problem can be a maximum limit on the number of other Bluetooth devices it can connect with. Look through the Bluetooth menu of that device and delete any device you no longer use; then try to pair your headset again.

Basic Weather Instruments

Weather instruments are used to give meteorologists information on the behavior of weather patterns and how they affect the atmosphere. They range from simple devices, such as thermometers and rain gauges that measure heat and rainfall, to more intricate instruments, such as the psychrometer, which uses a dry and wet thermometer to measure the relative humidity of the surrounding air. Because weather patterns are part of the heat, pressure and moisture systems of the atmosphere, measuring these variables can help scientists predict the weather.

Basic Principles

Weather instruments are all focused on one primary task measuring atmospheric conditions. Meteorologists are interested in all of the effects that cause different types of weather, including heat, pressure, moisture and wind. The instruments help them measure these variables quickly and precisely. By documenting atmospheric conditions and applying physical laws to their occurrence, scientists can observe and predict weather patterns. While many of their instruments are common and used for many different purposes, some are specific to meteorologists and have particular functions.

Thermometer

Thermometers measure temperature, more specifically, they measure the temperature of the surrounding air. To receive a full set of results, scientists usually take thermometer readings at a set of locations and altitudes. Pockets of air move up and down in the atmosphere, based on how much heat they have. Such movements produce most of the noticeable weather effects, including the movements of rainstorms and the creation of tornadoes. Of course, scientists can also find a wealth of information by measuring the heat of the oceans where weather patterns originate.

Anemometer

Anemometers measure the qualities of the wind that is blowing in the area. They measure wind strength and direction, giving scientists vital information on where and how fast storms are moving. Direction is easy to measure, but the anemometer also shows the pressure built up within the wind and the velocity at which it is traveling.

Barometer/Barograph

A barometer uses air or mercury to measure the pressure of the atmosphere. Atmospheric pressure shifts based on altitude and strong weather effects. Changes in pressure can show scientists what types of weather patterns are developing, providing early warnings signs for such destructive events as tornadoes and hurricanes. In aneroid barometers, the air outside is compared to a pocket of air at a stable pressure within the device, while mercury versions measure the change in mercury, which shifts based on the current pressure.

Psychrometer/Hygrometer

The psychrometer is just one example of how these and many other instruments can be combined to form a set of data on one given effect. Psychrometers use different sets of thermometers to measure relative humidity at a specific location. One device has a dry bulb, and the other has a wet bulb. By measuring the difference between these two thermometers, scientists can pinpoint how much moisture is in the air at the time. Hygrometer is the general name for these systems, and there are other kinds of hygrometers that use different methods to measure humidity, such as the dew point hygrometer.

Do U S Cell Phones Work In Haiti

The question of whether your cellular phone purchased in the United States works in Haiti can be answered, in short, with "maybe." It depends on the type of phone and the type of service that you have.

Mobile Service Providers

Haiti currently has three mobile telecommunications providers. They are Communication Cellulaire d'Haiti "COMCEL" (a subsidiary of Trilogy International Partners LLC), Haiti Telecommunications International S.A. "HaiTel" and Digicel Haiti (an affiliate of the pan-Caribbean Digicel Group).

Cellular Modes

There are three different digital wireless telephony technologies used throughout the world. All three are available in Haiti, depending on the mobile communications company.

TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) is the technology used by COMCEL.

CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) is the technology used by HaiTel.

GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) is the technology used by Digicel Haiti.

Cellular Bands

The digital wireless telephony technologies operate on the following cellular and personal communication services frequency :

TDMA on 850 MHz (cellular) and 1.9 GHz (personal communications services)

CDMA on 800 MHz (cellular) and 1.9 GHz (personal communications services)

GSM on 900 MHz (cellular) and 1.8 GHz (personal communications services)

The official cellular frequency spectrum used in Haiti is 850 MHz.

Multimode/Multiband Phone

To ensure that your U.S. cellular phone works in Haiti, make sure you follow the standard practice of most seasoned international travelers and acquire a multimode/multiband phone so that you can switch back and forth until you find the right mode and band that works for you.

Also, Verizon and AT&T wireless services are available in Haiti. So, if your multimode/multiband phone uses one of these carriers, you have further increased your chances.

Rentals, SIMs and Phone Cards

If you do not have a U.S.-purchased cellular phone that operates in Haiti, you still have other options. Haiti has a thriving cellular telephone rental industry. However, if you would rather keep your own cellular phone, you will just need to buy a SIM card and a phone card upon arrival. After placing the SIM card into your cellular phone, you can use the phone card to pay for the calls you make.

2. Plug the web camera through a USB or firewire port. Turn the camera switch on. As soon as you plug it in, the drivers will read the camera and prompt you to do a couple of things. This will include either starting a video conference or taking pictures. Take into consideration how the camera works on your end.

3. Review the display. Pay attention to details, like if your face comes in clear or fuzzy on the computer. What you see on your screen is close to what the person on the other end will see on his screen. Place the camera in a spot where it can capture everyone who is going to participate in the video conference. Make adjustments before starting the conference. Make use of the tools that come with the camera, such as panning or zooming.

4. Make sure the camera is compatible with your other video-conferencing software. The only way to find this out is to test your software, such as Skype or Aim, and see if you are able to use your camera with these products. Pick the best software to use. There are several third-party programs to choose from, and pick the one that best matches your needs.

5. Test the audio. Video-conference cameras have some type of built-in mic, so if your computer is not equipped with one or if you don't have a separate computer microphone, you can still use the camera for a video conference. Run the software you chose for your video conference and speak as you would want to speak in the conference.

Upgrade to a new Boost phone in a few easy steps.

Boost Mobile offers prepaid wireless solutions for consumers. Boost has a variety of phones, some operating on their iDEN network while others are designed to work on their CDMA network. All phones are contract-free, so when you're ready to replace your old Boost device with a more up-to-date model, the process is simple. Your phone number and plan can remain the same, and any minutes you've purchased will be transferred to the new phone.

Instructions

iDEN Boost Phones

1. Visit boostmobile.com and click the "Shop" link. Browse available iDEN phones, which are easily distinguished by model numbers beginning with the letter "i".

2. Add the desired phone to your shopping cart and check out, or type your ZIP code in the "Store Locator" field near the top of the page to find a retailer near you and purchase the phone at a store.

3. Remove the Boost Mobile SIM card from your old device. This is typically found under the battery door, but it varies by make and model.

4. Insert your SIM card into the new phone. Assemble your new phone by reinstalling the battery and attaching the battery door.

5. Fully charge your phone, which normally takes about two hours. Power the phone on by pressing the "End/Power" button for a few seconds. Your phone is now ready for use.

CDMA Boost Phones

6. Visit boostmobile.com and click the "Shop" link. Browse available CDMA phones, which do not have the letter "i" before the model number.

7. Add the desired phone to your shopping cart and check out, or type your ZIP code in the "Store Locator" field near the top of the page to find a retailer near you and purchase the phone at a store.

8. Insert the battery into the new phone and attach the battery door. Power the phone on by holding the "End/Power" button for several seconds.

9. Call 1-866-402-7366 from a phone other than your Boost device. Provide the representative with your Boost phone number, account PIN or password and the ESN or MEID of the new device.

10. Follow the instructions to program your phone with your phone number. The Boost representative will transfer your minutes to your new device.

Install An Sis 305 Video Adapter

The SiS 305 video chipset has been used in video cards by several different manufacturers.

The SiS 305 is a graphic processing unit (GPU) used in video cards manufactured by several companies, including Pine Technology, Jaton and ASUS. If you are building a budget-priced computer, you might choose an SiS 305-based card. Install an SiS 305-based video card in a computer that needs to be able to display rudimentary 3D graphics at a low price.

Instructions

1. Turn your computer off. Unplug every cable from it, and bring the computer tower to a sturdy work surface.

2. Open the computer case. Depending on the case manufacturer, this may be done by removing screws from the back, or by pulling on a release lever. After the case is opened, lay it on its side so that the expansion cards inside the computer are easily accessible.

3. Remove the current video card, if one is installed. The video card is generally in the slot closest to the central processor of the computer, although there are some exceptions. You can confirm this by looking at the I/O ports on the back of the computer to find the video port. Remove the screw securing the video card to the computer case, then lift it out of the AGP slot. If your computer currently has an integrated video processor, skip this step.

4. Push the SiS 305-based video card into the open AGP slot and secure it to the computer case with the screw reserved from the previous step.

5. Close the computer case and reconnect all of the cables. Turn the computer on. When Windows loads, you will most likely be asked to supply the location of the driver for the new video card.

6. Insert the driver disc supplied with the video card, and walk through the prompts given by the software to install the driver. If the card did not include a driver disc, download the driver online. Generic SiS 305 drivers can be obtained from CNET (see Resources section). However, it is usually preferable to obtain the driver from the manufacturer of the video card, when possible.

7. Restart the computer after the driver for the new video card is installed. The SiS 305 is now ready to use.

Take Apart A Flip Phone

Disassemble your flip phone.

Flip-style cell phones are popular due to their useful design wherein the phone is divided into two parts: the keypad or main body of the phone, and the phone's display panel. The display panel rotates on a spring-loaded hinge to "flip" open and/or closed. When the display screen is flipped open, the phone is ready for use. Dismantling your flip phone allows you to troubleshoot and repair the device's internal components.

Instructions

1. Hold down the phone's power button for a few seconds until it turns off. Close the flip screen, and place the phone face down. Remove the back cover and the battery pack revealed by the cover.

2. Remove the Phillips-head or Torx screws fastening the phone's back housing in place. Use a thin, flat-head screwdriver to pry the back cover from the back housing from the phone to reveal the main circuit board.

3. Examine the circuit board, and unplug any visible ribbon cables. Remove any screws fastening the main circuit board in place. Lift the circuit board out of the phone slightly, and unplug the ribbon cables from the opposite side of the board. These cables usually connect the keypad and LCD screen to the circuit board. Remove the board from the phone.

4. Place the phone face up and open the flip screen. Use a thin, plastic object like a credit card or guitar pick to pry the front bezel from the phone's LCD screen. This is the main plastic piece on the front of the screen. Remove the screws fastening the screen's metal cover in place. Remove the cover to expose the LCD screen.

5. Close the flip screen, and use your credit card or guitar pick to remove the bezel on the opposite side of the flip screen. Removing this bezel will reveal a small, circuit board. Remove its retaining screws, and unplug any cables connected to this circuit board. Remove the board from the phone.

6. Use the credit card to pry the LCD screen out of its compartment. Set it aside.

Unlock A Cell Phone After Forgetting The Password

Cell phones are prone to being lost or stolen, so using a cell phone locking system that requires a unique numeric password is key to preventing unauthorized use of the cell phone if it falls into the wrong hands. But occasionally, you might forget the cell phone lock password, particularly if it's recently been changed or if the lock feature has not been used recently. Fortunately, there are several ways you can unlock a cell phone after forgetting the password.

Instructions

Unlock a Cell Phone If You've Forgotten the Password

1. Remove the cell phone battery for 2 full minutes; then replace the battery and turn on the phone. Check to see if the phone is still locked. Sometimes, this is all that's necessary to reset the phone's lock feature.

2. Check the cell phone user manual. Look in the index for terms like "lock," key lock," "keypad lock," "reset" or "features" and read the related sections. Some cell phone manuals will provide information on reset the cell phone's lock feature. Often, pressing a certain combination of keys or pressing a certain key while removing the battery will serve as a reset for the lock.

3. Press different keypad combinations in an attempt to unlock the phone using a bypass. Focus on the primary keys: the send button, the end/off button, the menu button, the arrow buttons. Try pressing them in combination--the send button and the menu button, the menu button and each of the arrow buttons, the send button with each number and so on.

4. Search for a reset button and depress it for 30 seconds; then turn the phone on to see if it's been unlocked. The reset button is usually very small, just large enough to be depressed with a pen tip or paperclip. It may be located behind the cell phone battery. Beware that this could erase ring tones, contacts, images and other data on the phone, so use caution when trying this option.

5. Call the cell phone company's customer service line. This number can be found on the cell phone company website or on your cell phone bill. The cell phone company can provide step-by-step help for problems with all of the different cell phone brands and models that are sold for use with their service.

6. Visit one of the cell phone company's retail stores. Each store has a customer service department and like the customer service reps who are available through the customer service line, they are equipped to help solve problems involving the phones that are sold for use with their service. The lock on some phone models can only be reset by the customer service staff using special computer software available only at the cell phone company's retail stores.

Call After A First Date

Whether you are new to the dating scene or a seasoned veteran, the dating world can often seem to be made up of a confusing collection of riddles. Do you pay for your date or let your date pay for you? Do you each pay your own way? Should you allow chivalry to reign or is the practice of the man holding the door open or scooting his date's chair no longer considered politically correct? And assuming that you have successfully navigated your way through a first date, how do you know when to call your date with a follow up to your evening out? What do you say during such a conversation? Do you make the call at all or do you wait for them to call you? If questions like these typically plague you after you've had a first date with someone in whom you are interested, relax. Knowing call your new love interest after a first date is not as hard as you might think.

Instructions

1. Start by being real. Some of the stress and anxiety you may feel upon making a phone call to the person with whom you've had a first date is related to the act many people put on during the early days of a relationship. You want so much to be sure that your date likes you that you overanalyze every move you make during the date and beyond. That usually leads to hours of agony next to the phone, debating whether to call or not to call. Take a deep breath and ask yourself, "Do I want to call this person?" If the answer is yes, go with it. Stop worrying that you might seem eager if you call too soon.

2. Develop a list of talking points. There is nothing worse than an awkward silence during a telephone conversation. It is during those awful silent moments that one of the two parties involved will say something purely for the sake of filling in the empty space which can quickly steer the conversation toward a turn for the worse. When you make up talking points (either mentally or on a piece of notepaper) you can ensure that you will have something interesting to say should there be an overly long pause in your conversation.

3. Be prepared for an answering machine. If your date doesn't answer, you may get the machine. Many television sitcoms and Hollywood movies have built entire scenes around disastrous telephone messages. Don't let the machine catch you off guard. Have a brief, friendly message prepared and leave your phone number. Say goodbye and hang up.

4. Schedule your call at a time when it is likely to be convenient for your date. If you know your date works until 6:00, a phone call at 6:15 would not be wise. You want to time it so that you will be reaching your date during a time that is conducive to conversing in a comfortable, unrushed manner.

5. Once you make the call, do your best to let the conversation unfold naturally. Try not to nervously dominate all of the talking and resist the impulse to become shy and quiet. If the phone call is to lead to a second date, the conversation will probably comfortably lead itself in that direction anyway, so there is really no reason to be nervous.

Cut An Mp3 File

If your MP3 songs are too long, trim them with cutting tools.

MP3s are lightweight, compressed audio files found on many websites. If you have a library of MP3s, you may want to cut some of them. This allows you to create new variations of songs or remove segments you don't like. You can cut MP3 files to create short ringtones for your cell phone. A 3-minute ringtone won't work, but a 30-second one will. Several software makers offer tools that allow you to cut MP3 files quickly.

Instructions

1. Visit the Audacity website, and download the free audio editor (see Resources). This program is useful for editing and enhancing multiple audio tracks. You can also use it to cut an MP3. When you load an MP3 file into Audacity, the program creates a visible track in a horizontal graph. As you play the MP3, a time indicator ticks. This indicator shows you the current time location in the audio file. For example, after playing a song for 20 seconds, the time indicator will read "0:20." Use the indicator and the program's "Cut" tool to define new start and end points for your MP3. When you save the file, Audacity will save only the audio portion that you want to keep.

2. Navigate to the MP3 Cutter website, download Fast MP3 Cutter Joiner and install it (see Resources). Fast MP3 Cutter Joiner allows you to join and trim large MP3s up to ten gigabytes in size. Choose from multiple cutting options. For instance, if you want a file to be a certain length, enter that value in the "Length" text box. To set start and end points, enter those values in the corresponding text boxes. As you enter settings, Fast MP3 Cutter Joiner shows you how large the MP3 will be if you apply those settings. Use the handy "Fade" function to fade in the beginning of a song and fade out the ending. If you have multiple files to cut, use the "Batch Cut" function to trim them all at once.

3. Visit GoldWave's website to download GoldWave software (see Resources). Goldwave is a professional audio editing program with many advanced features. Digital music creators use it to enhance audio and mix multiple tracks. After importing an MP3, you can edit it using familiar "Cut," "Trim" and "Replace" commands. This gives you precise control over the final output. Using GoldWave's effects tools, you can also enhance an MP3 after cutting it. Add special effects, adjust tonal quality and even alter an MP3's pitch using GoldWave's audio effects controls.

Remove The Battery From My Iphone

The iPhone continues to be one of the bestselling smartphone devices in the U.S. consumer market. As of January 2011, the iPhone's market share stood at 24.7%. The iPhone 4 comes with a 5 megapixel camera, at least 16 gigabytes of memory and video conferencing capability. iPhone owners also have access to thousands of third-party applications in Apple's App Store. You can remove the phone's battery by pulling off the glass front-panel and then unscrewing the logic board.

Instructions

1. Prop up the iPhone on a flat surface with the power button closest to the ground. Insert a paper clip in the small hole on the top of the iPhone. Press down lightly into this hole and wait for the iPhone's SIM card to pop out. Pull out the SIM card from the slot and put it off to the side.

2. Set the the iPhone down on the flat surface. Look for two small screws next to the iPhone's dock. The dock sits right by the power button. Unscrew both of these screws and place them off to the side.

3. Insert the letter opener or thin metal tool in the gap between the silver back cover and the glass panel. Pry the back cover away from the panel carefully. The iPhone's components are all very delicate and you should pry the phone open with as little force as possible. Place the front glass panel off to the side.

4. Look at the thin metallic cover inside the phone. Unscrew the seven small screws on the perimeter of this piece. Look for a small black ribbon in the corner of the metallic cover. Pull this ribbon out of the device slowly. Lift up the metal cover and place it off to the side.

5. Pull up the logic board slowly out of the iPhone casing. The logic board will still be connected to the iPhone camera via a small cord. Unplug this cord from the logic board before removing it from the phone.

6. Look for the silver tab on the edge of the phone's battery. Grab this tab with your index finger and thumb and then pull the battery out of the iPhone's case.

Disadvantages To Jail Breaking My Iphone

Most iPhone users have heard about the many pluses of jailbreaking their iPhone. However, even though there are several reasons you might consider jailbreaking your phone, there are also risks to consider. As of publication, jailbreaking the iPhone is legal under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, according to the U.S. Copyright Office.

Voided Warranty

While the DMCA recognizes jailbreaking as a legal activity, Apple has enabled a policy to deter the practice. If you jailbreak your iPhone, the warranty is considered void. This means you can't take your iPhone to Apple for any other maintenance or repairs should it be damaged after being jailbroken.

Bricking

The process of jailbreaking the iPhone involves removing and re-installing the iOS firmware with an augmented firmware package. This process, if done incorrectly or interrupted, can sometimes result in what is known as "bricking." The term refers to rendering the iPhone inoperable and essentially useless, a proverbial brick. While a restoration to factory settings can rectify this issue and allow for a second attempt, this potentially irritating setback can eat up your time, especially if it happens more than once.

Bugs and Glitches

Sometimes, the jailbreak process or the specific jailbreak program used can create a glitch. The nature of glitches and bugs depends on the individual jailbreak, but can range from the jailbreaking program simply not working, to errors when the altered firmware package is installed. Some apps or features that functioned fine before the jailbreak may no longer work, or have glitchy operation.

Security Issues

The jailbreak process can also leave your iPhone vulnerable to malware attack. During the installation of the new firmware, malware can be installed onto your iPhone. This malware may be packaged into the jailbreaking program, or already present on your computer.

Data Usage

Your iPhone's data usage may go up with the addition of new applications that may use large quantities of data. At time of publication, AT&T features bandwidth caps instead of an unlimited plan, which can be easily reached when using large quantities of data. After the cap is breached, additional charges will be added to your plan, which can quickly build up and create a sizable bill.

Send Video Coverage Through A Wireless Mobile

Most modern mobile phones facilitate the transmission and display of video clips.

Since the development of the multimedia messaging service (MMS) system in 2000, sending audio, picture and video content via wireless mobile phones has grown increasingly popular. In addition, most modern cell phones allow the transmission of multimedia content, via email or a Bluetooth wireless connection. Second nature for many, the process of sending a video via cell phone will only initially baffle a new or inexperienced cellular customer.

Instructions

1. Ensure that your cell phone is capable of capturing video, via a built-in digital camera, and sending it, via MMS, email or Bluetooth connection. If you intend to downloaded the video coverage or receive it yourself, via MMS, email or Bluetooth, your mobile phone obviously only requires the ability to receive/download and send video. You can find out your particular phone's video capabilities by contacting your service provider, referencing your phone manual or simply looking through your phone's application list for those relating to video capture or playback.

2. Check to see if you have an active messaging or data plan with your cellular service provider that includes video messaging. You can find out by contacting your service provider or checking your account online (as long online account services are available and you have signed up for them). Often, if your phone is capable, you can still send video messages without a message or data plan, but you will be charged a high per-use fee that may even grow with the size of the video file being sent.

3. Capture the video footage, using your cell phone's built-in digital camera application; download it, via a Web application; or simply receive it in your message inbox. Downloading video and receiving video messages are both subject to the terms of a data/message plan or a per-use fee structure.

4. On your mobile phone, open the application that manages video files. This may be the same as the camera application, or a separate application that manages video/photo viewing operations only.

5. Navigate to the clip of the video coverage you wish to send, or highlight its representative thumbnail image.

6. Press the phone's "Options" or "Menu" button. This will open up a set of options concerning the management of the selected video file.

7. Select the option that indicates sending or sharing the video. The phrasing of the correct option varies by phone model: "Share," "Send," "Add to Message," "Send in Message," "Send As" and "Send Via" are just a few examples. Most modern cell phones will then give you the option to choose the method of sending the video file (MMS, email or Bluetooth).

8. Select the method in which you wish to send the message and confirm the selection. If you choose MMS transmission, you will be taken to your phone's messaging application and allowed to attach an accompanying text message and designate the intended recipient(s) before confirming the send. Selecting email transmission will take you to your phone's email application, allowing you to enter accompanying text and the recipient's email address. For Bluetooth transmission, you must have an active Bluetooth connection with another nearby phone, but the video file is downloaded directly into the other phone's video directory, not as part of a message.

Help With Pin Number For Jabra Stone Bluetooth

The Jabra Stone Bluetooth headset is compatible with Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and computers. You need to pair the headset with the device in order to use the headset. During the pairing process, you are asked to input the PIN. If you don't enter the correct PIN, the headset won't work with your device.

About

The Jabra Stone Bluetooth headset requires a PIN to confirm the connection between the Bluetooth-enabled device to which you are connecting, such as a mobile phone, and the headset. When you have the headset in pairing mode, any Bluetooth device within range can attempt to pair with the headset. The PIN protects you from another device connecting to the headset without your permission.

Entering PIN

The device you are connecting the Jabra Stone to requests the PIN during the pairing process, after you select the headset from the list of available devices. The PIN is "0000." The method for entering the PIN depends on the type of device you are using. For example, if you're using a mobile phone, enter the PIN with the phone's keypad. When connecting to a computer, use the keyboard to input the PIN. If you're using a device with a touch screen, tap the text box to access the device's virtual keypad, and enter the PIN. Once entered, you'll need to select, click or tap "OK" to complete the connection.

Reentering PIN

You can disconnect the Jabra Stone from the other device at any time, and not have to worry about entering the PIN again when you reconnect at a later time. The only time you'll have to enter the PIN again is if you delete the Bluetooth profile from the device. Many of the devices that you can use with the Jabra Stone allow you to keep multiple Bluetooth profiles. To prevent the need to enter the PIN whenever you use the headset, save the Bluetooth profile to the device.

Considerations

Though PIN entry is used as a security precaution, many Bluetooth manufacturers use the same PIN to complete pairing. Pairing the Jabra Stone in a private location decreases the chance of another device attempting to pair with your device. The Jabra Stone allows you to pair with two devices at once. You are forced to enter the PIN when connecting to the second device, just as you were when connecting the first device. Use the same PIN to connect to the second device.

Unlock New Nokia Phones

GSM phones use SIM cards to store subscriber and network identification information.

Nokia cell phones that operate on the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) network are sometimes locked to a specific carrier. A locked GSM Nokia phone will only work with SIM cards from a specific network. Unlocking your GSM-based Nokia will allow it to work with SIM cards from any global GSM network provider. Although unlocking your phone is not difficult, you must be careful to get an unlock code from a reputable source. Failure to enter the proper unlock code a certain number of time, usually five, will hard-lock your phone. A hard-locked phone can only be unlocked using a cable.

Instructions

1. Insert a SIM card into your new Nokia phone. This card does not need to be activated or working. It's function is to allow the phone to fully power on.

2. Turn the phone on and allow it to start to its basic number entry screen.

3. Enter the following code on the phone's keypad: *#06# and press "Send. Your phone's International Mobile Equipment Identifier (IMEI) will display.

4. Write the IMEI number down. Double check to make sure you have written the number down correctly. The unlock code is generated based on this IMEI number. An incorrect digit will render the unlock code useless.

5. Enter the IMEI number and your phone's carrier name into unlock code generating software or on a website that sells unlock codes. In some cases, an independent cell phone retailer may be able to generate the code or unlock your phone for a fee. In other cases, a carrier may be willing to provide you with an unlock code.

6. Remove the SIM card from the phone once you have an unlock code.

7. Turn the phone on and enter the unlock code in the phone. The format for Nokia unlock codes is #p2+555 555 555 5+1#.

A Code To A Tracfone

Add minutes to your TracFone with an airtime PIN code.

When you purchase an airtime refill card for your TracFone, the back of the card bears a strip of silver material that must be scratched off with a coin in order to reveal a PIN code. This code is 15 digits long and will allow you to add the minutes you've bought to your phone. Once you've scratched the card to reveal your PIN code, you can proceed to redeem the code directly on your phone or online via the TracFone website.

Instructions

On the Phone

1. Turn on your TracFone and navigate to the Prepaid menu. When you are on the Prepaid menu screen, select the option to "Add Airtime."

2. Use your phone's keypad to enter the 15-digit PIN code from the refill card into the box that appears. Double-check the code, then select "OK." The phone will then inform you that the minutes will be added soon.

3. Wait for the minutes to appear on your phone. You will know that the addition of airtime has been completed successfully when the number of available minutes displayed on your phone's home screen increases; a popup screen may also appear informing you that the minutes have been added.

Online

4. Visit the TracFone website and click on the button that says "Activate Phone, Add or Buy Airtime." On the menu bar at the top of the next page, click on the button that says "Add Airtime," then click "Go" underneath the option to "Add Airtime Online."

6. Make sure that your TracFone is turned on and has a signal. After entering your phone number and airtime PIN information online, the minutes will be sent directly to your phone. It generally does not take longer than 10 minutes to receive your airtime refill.

What Phones Are Compatible With The H500

The Motorola H500 Bluetooth headset connects to a wide variety of Bluetooth devices.

The Motorola H500 Bluetooth is a versatile headset available in several vibrant colors to coordinate with Motorola's successful RAZR cell phone. While the headset does work well with the Motorola RAZR, it's equipped with two universal Bluetooth profiles, meaning it works with all Bluetooth-compatible devices.

Hands-free Profile Support

The H500 supports the hands-free Bluetooth profile (HFP). A hands-free Bluetooth profile can connect to freestanding devices with Bluetooth receivers, like speakers, computers or car kits. That means if an accessory or cell phone has the hands-free Bluetooth profile, it will work with the Motorola H500. The majority of Bluetooth ready accessories work with a hands-free profile, making the H500 a universally compatible Bluetooth headset. When purchasing a Bluetooth compatible accessory or phone look for HFP under Bluetooth profiles to ensure your device will work with the Motorola H500.

Mono Headset Profile Support

Motorola's H500 Bluetooth headset supports another universally compatible profile, the mono headset profile. This profile is frequently referred to as HSP. This is the profile that allows Bluetooth devices to communicate directly with cell phone headsets that have built in Bluetooth technology. The mono headset profile is universally compatible, meaning any Bluetooth-ready cell phone can pair with the Motorola H500 Bluetooth headset. A few examples of devices that can pair with the H500 via HSP are the HTC Droid Incredible, LG EnV3, Motorola Backflip and the Motorola Adventure. Check your cell phone's user manual for the HSP indicator under Bluetooth profiles.

Bluetooth Profile Limitations

The HSP and HFP profiles are both basic Bluetooth connection profiles. They do not support stereo sound, dial up connections, file transfer, or vCard contact transfer. This means the Motorola H500 Bluetooth headset is a good no-frills Bluetooth solution, but may not be the best choice for someone looking for advanced Bluetooth functionality.

Pairing the H500

Put the Motorola H500 Bluetooth headset in pairing mode and charge it fully before you pair it with a handset or other Bluetooth device. On a basic headset you can search for and connect the H500 by navigating to the phone's menu, and then selecting "Settings and Tools." Navigate to the "Bluetooth" menu. Select "Add New Device." Follow the on-screen instructions for connecting the headset. If the phone asks for a connection code, enter 0000.
