How Do You Clear Your Driving Record

How Do You Clear Your Driving Record?

In most cases, the only way to clear serious negative marks on a driving record is time. If the state Department of Motor Vehicles has made a mistake with your driving record, then it may be possible to get it cleared before the 10-year statute of limitations expires. The key word to look for is "expunge." Each state has a different policy that allows you to possibly expunge negative marks from the driving record.

Instructions

1. Research the relevant expungement law for your state. Most states detail their expungement policies in their Department of Motor Vehicles Driver Manual or other similar document. These handbooks are usually available for free from the relevant department's website. Some states do not allow any expungement, but may offer an alternative service for preventing the charge from appearing on background checks--particularly those originating from out of the state.

2. If necessary, consider contacting an expungement lawyer to assist you in solving the problem. Do not contact a lawyer without first researching the procedure. Look for lawyers that will not charge you unless you achieve successful expungement.

3. Fill out the relevant Expungement Petition. The document can generally be acquired from the website or office of the relevant state Department of Motor Vehicles. A lawyer can assist in drafting the best possible expungement petition. The document may also go by a similar name such as Petition of Expungement or Petition Motion for Expungement.

4. Await the decision of the judge of the superior court of the relevant state. If the judge approves the expungement, the record will be cleared. If not, then the records will remain as they are. The chances of success are increased if the mark on the record never resulted in a criminal conviction.

5. Be aware that it may be much more challenging to get an expungement if an incident involving drunk driving led to an accidental death or significant property damage.

Update My Cna Certification If It Is Outdated

In order to work, CNAs must have a current certification.

Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) provide basic patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse. Duties include bathing, grooming, feeding and measuring vital signs. CNAs are required to complete a certification course and pass an exam to earn their certification; certification must be renewed every 2 years in order to remain valid. If your CNA certification has lapsed, you will not be able to work as a CNA until your certification is current again.

Instructions

1. Contact your state CNA registry, either online, by telephone or by mail to find out the status of your license. States have varying rules for updating your CNA certification, depending on whether you've simply missed the renewal deadline, or whether your license is considered expired or inactive. For example, the CNA registry in Missouri considers your license "inactive" if you haven't worked for 2 years as a CNA, and "expired" if you haven't worked for 5 years. Inactive licenses require a retake of the CNA exam, while expired licenses require you to repeat your coursework and exam.

2. Complete a CNA training course and/or take the CNA exam if your license is expired or inactive. If you license is expired, you will need to do both. If your license is inactive, you will need to pass the exam to get reinstated to the registry.

3. Submit an application for renewal, as well as supporting documentation if you've simply missed the deadline on the renewal period. Your employer may need to fill out a portion of the renewal form; you will also need to submit pay stubs proving you were paid working as a CNA within the past 2 years.

4. If you feel your inactive or expired status is incorrect, challenge your status. If you have completed CNA work for pay within the last 2 years, but your state registry lists your license as inactive (or expired if they show you haven't worked in 5 years), submit proof of your employment. Provide a state-issued identification card with your name, address, picture and signature, as well as pay stubs showing you've been paid for CNA work within the last 2 to 5 years.

5. Be patient. Once you've submitted your paperwork and supporting documentation, processing can take a few weeks.

Dental Cleaning Procedures

Dental cleaning procedures differ although they all have the same purpose: good oral health. Most cleaning procedures can be performed by a certified dental hygienist. However, some complicated procedures that require more knowledge and skill may have to be performed by a dentist.

History

According to Ada.org, Celsus, a Roman, wrote about medical issues, including oral hygiene and toothache cures, in 100 B.C. Ada.org also notes that in 1890 Willoughby Miller, an American dentist in Germany wrote about microbial bases of dental decay in his book "This writing stimulates the world into placing greater emphasis on brushing teeth and flossing regularly. In 1913 the first oral hygiene school was founded by Alfred C. Fones, whpoalso coined the term "dental hygienist", and was later known as the Father of Dental Hygiene. In 1917 Irene Newman received the first dental hygiene license in the state of Connecticut.

Standard and Deep Cleaning

Numerous cleaning procedures exist, although there are a few basic methods that are widely used. According to Worldental.org, a standard cleaning involves removal of soft plaque and hard tartar above and below the gum line. This procedure requires specific instruments, and takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes. Another cleaning procedure is deep teeth cleaning. Worldental.org estimates this cleaning takes 45 to 60 minutes, due to the higher level of complexity. An initial exam is necessary to evaluate problems, and to plan what the followings treatments will consist of. Deep cleaning is generally done in two to four visits, according to Worldental.org. Deep cleaning involves the use of local anesthetic. Plaque and tarter above and below gum line are removed through a process called scaling. Rough spots on the root are smoothed to remove all bacteria, and to create a clean spot for the gums to reattach to the teeth.

Laser Cleaning

Laser cleaning is only used when the hygienist is unable to clean build-up that is located too deep under the gumline. Dentists are required to perform this procedure due to the use of anesthesia and a laser. Laser cleaning removes deeply embedded tartar, and allows gums to heal in a more effective manor, according to Worldental.org.

Cost

According to Worldental.,the cost of the average teeth cleaning and dental exam is between $50 and $135. This cost depends on the initial fee, how much insurance covers and if other procedures are needed, such as fluoride treatments or deep cleaning. Worldental.org also estimates the cost of deep cleaning from $100 to $400 per quadrant of the mouth.

Benefits

There are several reasons to get regular cleanings. The first is to prevent oral cancer that can be cured if diagnosed in time. The second reason is to prevent gum disease, which can be prevented through good oral health practices. Other reasons include maintaining health, and detecting dental problems early, along with many others.

Unlist A Phone Number

Unlist your phone number to maintain your privacy.

The Internet has opened up all kinds of information to anyone in the world that wants it, and that includes your home phone number. If you would like to keep your home phone number but remove it from public access then you need to unlist your phone number. There is a series of steps you should follow to make sure that your phone number remains unlisted to the public, and remains off limits to telemarketing companies as well.

Instructions

1. Contact your local phone company and ask to have your phone number unlisted. The most efficient way to insure that your number will be kept private is to request a new phone number and then have that number unlisted. It can take up to six months for your existing phone number to become completely unlisted in all of the print and online phone directories, as it takes time for the changes to take effect.

2. Sign up for the federal Do Not Call registry that prevents telemarketing companies from being allowed to call you with unsolicited sales calls. According to the Federal Trade Commission, there is a 31-day waiting period from the day you sign up to the last day that telemarketers can call you. If you receive an unsolicited telemarketing call after that 31-day window, request the name and phone number of the company from the telemarketing representative and report the company to the Federal Trade Commission.

3. Search through online phone directories and ask to have your name removed. To do this you will need to conduct an Internet search for online phone directories, check each directory to make sure your information is listed and then go to the Privacy section of the website to find out the procedure for removing your information from their listing.

4. Contact the three credit reporting agencies and request that your phone number be kept private. The credit reporting agencies include your phone number on any credit report they issue whether or not your number is unlisted with the phone company. This will eliminate another possible source for having your number revealed.

5. Check each new issue of the print and online phone directories from your phone company to make sure your number remains unlisted.

Connect Pc To Hdmi Tv

Connecting your computer to your HD television is not difficult.

Attaching your PC to the HDMI jack on your high-definition television allows you to view your computer's contents on a much larger, sharper screen. You can also utilize your PC's broadband Internet connection to watch streaming movies and TV shows on your big screen.

Instructions

1. Turn off your computer and examine the rear of the unit. Find the cable that comes from the computer's monitor and follow it to the back of the PC. The cable will be plugged into the output of the video card, which will be either a 15-pin VGA port or a 29-pin DVI port. If you are fortunate, there will be a second port directly next to it, of either the DVI or VGA variety. On the newest machines, you may even find a regular HDMI port on the card.

2. Choose the connection for video output. If your computer has an HDMI port, you can simply connect an HDMI cable of the correct length between the computer and the TV. Otherwise, you will need to make a few decisions. If your computer has only a single video output and it will not be used solely with the television, you may want to invest in a new video card. Purchase one with either a DVI or an HDMI output, and install it in an available slot, according to the instructions included with it. If your chosen output port is DVI, an inexpensive DVI to HDMI cable can convert your computer's output into the proper HDMI input for your TV. If you intend to use the VGA output on a single-output or dual-output card to drive the HDMI display, then a special device will be needed to convert between the formats. Because the price of the converter is about the same as an entry-level video card that will be easier to use with your TV, you might wish to simply opt for the new video card.

3. Connect the HDMI cable from your television to your computer. Install the correct adapter or converter for your computer, if necessary. Unless your computer has HDMI output, cords will also need to be connected from the sound card output to the HDMI video cable or adapter, because HDMI carries both video and audio signals.

4. Boot your PC and configure the new display by selecting "Control Panel" from the Start menu. Double-click the "Display" icon and click the "Settings" tab. The manual for your HDMI TV will list the screen resolutions it supports, along with the refresh rates. Configure the resolution in the "Settings" tab, and then click the "Advanced" button to set the refresh rate. If you are using the HDMI TV as the second monitor, you will also have to configure how it is used by Windows, according to the instructions pertaining to your video card. Most cards offer a "Clone" or "Mirror" mode, where both screens display the same content. Alternately, the "Extended Desktop" mode will allow each monitor to operate independently.

5. Reboot your PC to apply the changes, if necessary, and prepare to relax on your couch and watch you computer's content on the big-screen HDMI TV.

Make A Threeway Conference Call

In running a business, working from home or even in your personal life, you may encounter the need to make a three-way conference call, a call in which individuals residing or working from three separate physical locations may need to speak with one another simultaneously over the phone. You have three main options for make a three-way conference call.

Instructions

Two Phone Lines

1. Locate a telephone product that has three-way calling as a feature in the equipment. The phone should have the ability to connect with two separate phone lines, with two ports into the phone that can accept a cable. If it is a wireless phone, the dock should have two phone line ports.

2. Make sure that you have access to two phone lines in the location from which you need to make the three-way conference call. Generally, you will require a phone service account with two separate phone numbers in order for this to work.

3. Plug both of your phone lines into your telephone and make sure that you can get a dial tone on each of them. Generally, a three-way conferencing phone will have buttons to access "line 1" and "line 2." Push each button and make sure there is a dial tone.

4. Push line 1 and dial the phone number to the first party who needs to be on your three-way conference call. Once you have established contact, place the person on hold by pushing the hold button on your phone.

5. Push the button for line 2, and dial the second party who needs to be on your conference call. Once you have established contact, you should push the button for three-way calling on your phone and this should bring both parties from line 1 and line 2 into the call. You may need to take the person on line 1 off of Hold in order to allow that person on the call.

Skype

6. Sign up for a Skype account if you do not already have one (see Resources below). The initial sign-up process is free. You will need to download and install the Skype software in order to make calls through Skype, but this is also free. Make sure to do this before proceeding if the software is not already on your computer.

7. Purchase phone minutes if you do not already have them present on your Skype account. This involves paying a lump sum for 100 minutes of calling time in order to call phone lines from your Skype account, and the price is generally very reasonable. If you already have phone minutes on your Skype account, proceed to the next step.

8. Connect a computer microphone to your computer, as well as a set of headphones. Technically you do not need headphones to make a call on Skype, but if you try to use your computer speakers as the audio, the people you are speaking with are going to hear an echo of everything that is said (because your audio output will be picked up by your computer microphone).

9. Log into your Skype account through the installed software. From the Contacts menu, add the information for the individuals that you need to call. The individuals must already be present in your Contacts menu in order to begin the conference call.

10. Go to the Calls menu and select the option entitled "Start a conference call." From the menu that pops up, add the two contacts with whom you need to speak, and click the "Start" button. Your computer should then dial the other participants in your conference call and you can begin the discussion.

About Cell Phone Providers

About Cell Phone Providers

Today every has a cell phone. Even young children have a kid's version of a cellular phone marketed to them. When you're choosing a phone, however, it's not as simple as picking out the one you like. You must also choose the company, or cell phone provider, that you wish to use with your phone. It can seem tricky first, but it's not hard to understand after you understand the basics of what a cell phone provider does and how this affects you.

History

The world's first cell phone was invented by a man named Martin Cooper on April 3, 1973. He founded this phone from the company he worked for, Motorola. Motorola become the world's first cell phone provider and is still going strong today. There were other companies competing to invent the cell phone at the time. A second provider, AT&T, was also trying to make a handheld portable phone, but couldn't beat Motorola to the punch.

Function

A cell phone provider is a company (or one division of a company) in charge of setting up cell phones for customers and keeping track of their accounts and payments. The provider has a number of different phones available, each with its own special features. Providers build towers in towns so that their customers can get a signal whereever they are. The provider is responsible for giving you a phone and providing you with the technology to use it. Without the provider, we wouldn't have cell phones at all.

Types

The first major difference between providers is the type of phones they offer. While many phones look the same, each one is specifically designed for that company. Features are added to newer phones to compete with the other providers in the area. There is also a difference in signal coverage. Some companies have towers in all different locations, while smaller providers only cover a certain area.

Significance

Choosing the right provider is important because it will save you money and get you better service. A provider that doesn't have towers in the area you use most often won't be much help to you. You'll simply be paying for a phone you rarely use. The cost of different phone plans is important as well. If there were no competing providers, then one company could set their costs as high as they wanted. Because of the selection, however, you can choose the cheapest phone that carries the features you need, and because they are always trying to outdo each other the rates will continue to drop while quality of service increases.

Considerations

When choosing a cell phone provider, shop around in your area. Ask what plans they offer, how much the phones you like cost, and what features you can get. Basic packages differ between companies. One company may offer free minutes that won't help you, while a different one may give you the choice of free incoming calls. Take into consideration your lifestyle and where you live, and find out which provider will give you the best coverage for less. Don't be afraid to haggle with them if that's what it takes to get what you deserve.

What Are The Puk Codes Found On Cincinnati Bell Phones

A locked SIM card can be unlocked using a PUK code.

Cincinnati Bell offers a variety of GSM (Global System Mobility) phones for use on their network. Cincinnati Bell phones operate with a SIM card, which contains your phone number and subscriber information. Because your SIM card contains sensitive information, you may wish to protect it by enabling the SIM security feature. PUK (PIN Unlock Key) codes, unique to each SIM card, are one method of protecting the card. Cincinnati Bell can provide customers with the codes if they are needed.

PUK Code Definition

The PIN Unlock Key code is a unique eight-digit number used to unlock a disabled SIM card. SIM cards become disabled when the security PIN, used to protect your SIM card from unauthorized use, is entered incorrectly three times in a row. The SIM card then becomes temporarily blocked and the phone will display a "Phone Locked, Enter PUK" error message. Only emergency calls can be made when your SIM card is blocked. Moving the SIM card to another phone does not remove the error message.

Obtaining Your PUK Code

Cincinnati Bell provides PUK codes for customers who have blocked their SIM card. Because the PUK code is a security feature to protect a lost or stolen SIM, you will need to confirm that the phone number for which you need the PUK code is yours. This is usually accomplished by verifying your account details and account security code. Cincinnati Bell customer service can be reached by calling 1-888-248-1642. Press option "4" for "Reset PUK Code." You may also log in to your iWireless account online using your phone number and date of birth. Use the link in the Resources section to find the "Retrieve PUK Code" link.

Entering the PUK Code

Once you've contacted Cincinnati Bell to obtain the PUK code for your device, you'll need to enter it into your phone. Ensure your disabled SIM is inserted into your phone, metal contacts down. Power on the phone and wait for the error message to display. Type in the eight-digit PUK code and press "OK." You'll then be prompted to enter a new PIN -- this gives you an opportunity to set a new code to protect your SIM card. The PIN can be four to eight digits in length. Enter a code that is easy for you to remember but difficult to guess. Press "OK," then re-enter the code when prompted to confirm. Your phone will now unlock.

Tips

There are a few important things to keep in mind regarding your PUK code. Always contact Cincinnati Bell for the code rather than trying to guess it. After 10 wrong PUK entries, your SIM card will become permanently disabled, rendering it useless. Cincinnati Bell can provide a new SIM, but there may be a fee for this service. Additionally, you will only be prompted to enter the PUK if your SIM card PIN, which is set by you, is entered incorrectly. You can change your phone's security settings to disable the request for a SIM PIN by turning the SIM security option off.

Reinstall A Sound Card

Computer sound card

When the sound goes out on a computer, there are two possibilities as far as what may be wrong: software and hardware. A piece of software known as the driver may have been inadvertently changed or removed from the system, or the sound card itself may be experiencing some hardware issues. You can reinstall the sound card using the latest manufacturer's drivers available. After this, if a hardware issue is suspected, you may want to contact a professional computer technician to help you with replacing the sound card with a new one.

Instructions

1. Download the latest driver for your sound card from the manufacturer's website. If you are unsure who the manufacturer is, you can look on your system hardware information to find out. Click on "Start" and select the "Control Panel." Click on the "Device Manager" icon. In newer Windows systems, the computer will ask for your permission to continue (assuming you have admin privileges). Look under Sound and Video controllers to find your sound card manufacturer and model number.

2. Uninstall the current sound card and driver from the Device Manager. To complete this task, open up the Device Manager as described in Step 1. Right-click on your sound device under the Sound and Video controllers listings. Select "Uninstall" from the options presented.

3. Reboot your computer by shutting down normally, using the Start menu's "Restart" option.

4. Use the new driver that you downloaded in Step 1 when the system reboots and asks you for the driver of the "new" sound card device that it has discovered. It may offer to use a default driver, but you should override that option by selecting the option to "Browse My Computer for Driver Software." Direct the search box to the location where you saved the downloaded driver.

5. Reboot the computer once again after the installation of the updated driver. This will give it the opportunity to install and implement any changes made during the reinstall of the sound card and new driver. Once you complete this step, your sound card should work properly. If this does not fix your sound card, there could be a hardware problem. Diagnosis of and replacement of the card may be necessary, so consult a professional computer technician.

A Wireless Printer

Add A Wireless Printer

Adding a printer to your wireless network is a great idea for any home or business. The advent of Wireless printers resolved a lot problems with setting up a traditional printer that was plugged into the networked and needed to be configured and shared out.

Today most wireless printers are plug and play and can easily be set up by the technology challenged professional.

Instructions

1. In order for your printer to go wireless you need to purchase a wireless print server. Don't let the name scare you. All a print server does is it gives a place for you printer to plug into and acts as a beacon of communication to accept all print request. There are many print servers out on the market. For sake of functionality and compatibility my suggestion is that you purchase a print server that was made by the same company as your wireless router. In addition make sure your printer is supported by that print server. It saves you a world of misery when things are compatible.

2. Most of the newer print servers come with a setup cd, which takes the user through a wizard to connect and configure their print server. Just like setting up your wireless router you need to plug the print server into the network in the initial setup. The print server that I have is for a linksys router so I am going to guide you through a quick setup of that print server. Most print servers follow a similar track however I've chosen to use the popular brand to reach more people.

3. Running the install cd and setting up your password should be relatively easy, the tricky part is when you have to name your printer and set up the ip address. For sake of ease of use in the basic settings for the device name and domain name leave the settings alone as they will usually have a default name in the field.

Changing the name might cause conflicts with the network discovering the printer.

4. When setting up the ip address under the "set ip configuration manually tab" You need to input the following info for the network that the printer is being used on. IP ADDRESS: For linksys routers this is usually 192.168.1.254 For the SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0 is what most of all home routers use. For your routers IP address or gateway, you would use 192.168.1.1 which is often the default on the linksys routers. Once you've done that click next .

5. The next thing you would need to do is go to the "set print servers password" tab. This tab enables you to input your wireless network name, which is often referred to as the SSID, its channel and its network type. Usually I leave these alone as they only need to be configured if you only have a print server that is not using wireless router or access point.

6. Once you are done with that you have an option to set up a WEP key for your printer, only use this option if you have a WEP key for your network. If you've done this right you should receive a confirmation page telling you your setup was a success. Your setup should come with a set of drivers that will install to complete the rest of print servers configuration.

Once that is all done unplug the print server and the printer and put it in where ever you want. Send a test print to it to make sure the configuration took. If you have any issues you can message me. Enjoy!

Ideas & Tricks With Gprs

You can change your phone's GPRS settings.

GPRS stands for General Packet Radio Service and is a wireless communication service that transmits data at speeds between 56 and 114 Kbps. The protocol is used on many cell phones to offer users Internet access and the ability to send and receive multimedia and text messages. Many tricks and tips for GPRS exist, including the ability to change your phone's GPRS settings and connect a GPRS modem to your computer.

Secure Your GPRS Authentication

When your phone makes a GPRS connection, it sends the server a password that authorizes the connection. Windows Mobile phones have the ability to send clear text passwords, or negotiate secure, encrypted authentication between the server and the phone. The secure connection method is called Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol. Although your phone can change authentication methods, call your mobile provider to make sure that both methods are available on your network.

Configure GPRS Settings for Internet Access

Depending on your cell phone network, you may be required to configure GPRS settings on your device to access the Internet. For example, the GPS address on many T-Mobile devices is "internet2.voicestream.com." Once you enter this GPRS address, you will be able to browse the Internet on your device. However, newer phones do not require individual users to enter GPRS settings. Contact your mobile phone provider to confirm that you do need to enter this information.

Configure a GPRS Modem for Messaging

You can use stand-alone GPRS modems to get, send and receive mobile text and multimedia messages from your computer. When configured on your computer, your messages will transmit at the same speed as with a mobile device. However, GPRS modems can send messages that contain more than 140 bytes. Currently, mobile phones break up messages that are longer than 140 bytes. If you send the message through a GPRS modem, the message will not break up.

Disassemble A Flip Mino

Flip digital cameras are small video recorders designed for ease of use and to record relatively high-quality video. The Flip Mino is a smaller version of the original Flip recorder, and comes with the same basic characteristics, including the ability to shoot in HD, as well as the flip-out USB arm. These devices are technological achievements, so if you want to see what makes them tick, first take one apart.

Instructions

1. Use a prying tool to remove the sticker on the bottom of the device. This sticker has a small bar code on it, and the letters HDMI above the mini HDMI port. Use your small Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws underneath this sticker.

2. Wedge your prying tool in between the two halves of the device, and slide it around the side and bottom edges. Do not slide it along the top of the device.

3. Pull the halves apart slowly, until the side and bottom edges are freed, and the front can be separated from the back. Be careful when pulling the front and back apart, as there is a connector ribbon located near the bottom of the device, connecting the two halves.

4. Disconnect the ribbon cable by pulling it out of its socket on the logic board. Set the back half (plastic half) aside.

5. Insert your prying tool behind one of the top corners of the LCD screen to begin lifting it out of place. After you have begun lifting it out of place on one side, move to the other top corner and insert your prying tool behind that edge. Do not yet attempt to remove the LCD screen from its bracket.

6. Use a prying tool to lift the metal bracket (located below the LCD screen) out of its place. This reveals a plastic bracket that's located underneath. Use your prying tool to lift this bracket out of place as well, and set them both aside.

7. Locate the ribbon connector that runs from the LCD screen to the logic board. Use your fingernail to carefully flip up the latch located at the connection site. Remove the ribbon cable from its connector by pulling it out with your fingers. Remove the LCD screen and set it aside.

8. With the screwdriver, remove the four screws located along the outside edge of the logic board.

9. Locate the two microphone leads near the top of the logic board. These are small red wires connected between two silver dots. One lead is horizontal, while the other is vertical. De-solder these leads to disconnect them. Lift up on the disconnected wire gently with a pair of tweezers while using a soldering iron.

10. Pull the logic board out of its case, making sure not to pull too hard, as it is still connected via two ribbon cables. Disconnect the cables at their connector sites (on the logic board) using a pair of tweezers. Remove the logic board completely from its case, and set it aside.

11. Remove the two screws on the side edges of the battery case with the screwdriver. Use your prying tool to remove the battery, along with its case, from the device.

12. Looking at the front half of the device, remove the three Phillips-head screws around the two microphones (near the camera). Two screws are located by the larger microphone; the third is near the smaller microphone. Remove the microphones and set them aside.

13. Remove the four screws located along the edges of the metal bracket above the camera hole. Remove the bracket to reveal the flip-out USB arm. Use a pair of tweezers to remove the USB arm and set it aside.

14. Looking at the logic board, remove the two screws that secure the camera in place. They're located on the reverse side of the logic board that the camera is on. Remove the camera from the logic board. Your Flip Mino is now completely disassembled.

Does The Nokia E63 Work Without A Data Plan

The Nokia E63 does not require a data plan.

Released in December 2008, the Nokia E63 smartphone is capable of operating without a data plan from a wireless service provider. Without a data plan, you are able to use all of the device's cellular features, but you're not able to use its Internet-reliant features. Although released in 2008, the E63 did not become available in the United States until early 2009.

Connectivity

The Nokia E63 uses Global System for Mobile Communications technology to access the 2G wireless network and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System technology to connect to the 3G network. The E63 transfers data from the 2G network at between 100 and 296 kilobits per second and from the 3G network at up to 384 Kbps. Each technology accesses its respective network by default with the E63, but GPRS is used as a backup for accessing the 2G network when EDGE is unavailable. These networking features will work on the E63 as long as you have a SIM card installed, even if you don't have a data plan.

Internet

Equipped with a Wireless Application Protocol 2.0/xHTML Web browser, the Nokia E63 is designed to access the Internet through the 2G or 3G wireless networks, but this requires a data plan. You can access the Internet without a data plan by using the phone's Wi-Fi feature, but you need to be within range of a Wi-Fi router and connection to do so. The E63 comes with the 802.11b and 802.11g Wi-Fi protocols, which offer data transfer rates of up to 54 megabits per second. If you do purchase a data plan, the E63's Wi-Fi feature can help you minimize and preserve the amount of data you use from your monthly allotment.

Messaging

Not having a data plan does not exclude you from being able to use the Nokia E63 for its messaging features. The device supports text, picture, voice and video messages through its multimedia messaging functionality. If within range of a Wi-Fi connection, you can also enjoy the phone's mobile email and instant messaging features, which are offered through connections to a Post Office Protocol, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol or Internet Message Access Protocol server. Instant messaging requires you to create an IM account with a third-party client, such as Yahoo!, Microsoft or AOL.

Music

If you intend to use the Nokia E63 for listening to streaming music using an Internet radio application, such as Pandora, you need to tap into the device's Wi-Fi capability or purchase a data plan. If you want to use the E63 to listen to music, you can load it up with tunes through its USB port and a connection to a personal computer. The E63 features a multimedia player that supports a variety of audio and video file formats, including MP3, MP4, WMV and WMA.

How Record What Is On My Tv Screen

How Can I Record What Is on My TV Screen?

With the takeover of HDTV (high definition television), recording what is on your TV screen may not be as straightforward as it once was. The days of simply putting a videotape into your VCR and pressing record are quickly disappearing. Older, standard definition video recording equipment is not compatible with new high definition television signals. However, you can continue to record on a standard definition format like VHS or recordable DVD with the right equipment, or use your computer to record full HDTV video.

Assess What You Have

Determine the type of television you have. If you are using a standard definition television with a convertor box that allows you to receive HDTV signals, your convertor box may be the answer. Most are designed to allow composite RCA video outputs as well as a cable connection to your computer. Use the coaxial cable to connect the convertor box to your television, and the RCA jacks to connect your converted incoming HDTV signal to record onto your existing VCR or DVD recorder. You will not be recording in high definition (HD), but since you are not watching in HD to begin with, you won't notice the difference in quality.

Recording HDTV

You may have already upgraded to an HDTV set to receive television programs in the best possible quality. Unfortunately, recording technology for HDTV can still be expensive. Blu-Ray discs offer the highest definition experience currently available. While Blu-Ray players have become more affordable, Blu-Ray disc recorders remain expensive. However, affordable alternatives exist to record HDTV. Personal video recorders (PVRs) are computer devices that allow you to pause, record, or schedule recordings of live television programs. Because high definition television is a digital technology, the recording medium is also digital. Videotape is an obsolete recording technology. New recording technologies typically involve a type of computer that stores what is recorded from your TV onto digital computer files. Companies like TiVo and cable and satellite programming providers offer PVRs that allow you to record programs to these devices. The number of programs you can record depends on the size of the hard drive included with the unit. A disadvantage of a PVR device is the inability to transfer the stored video onto another medium like a computer or DVD.

Add a TV Tuner to your Computer

If you already have a newer desktop or laptop computer in your home, you may have your answer for quickly and easily recording your television programs. Adding a device known as a TV tuner to your computer is easy, and will cost less money than investing in a personal video recorder. A computer TV tuner plugs into the USB port of your computer and allows you to receive and record HDTV signals directly to your computer. Depending on your computer model, you may also be able to view the programs recorded on your computer through your television. TV tuners receive and record television signals in full high definition quality. Your computer can be a powerful tool to help organize and schedule recording of your favorite television programs to view at your convenience. However, make sure you have adequate disc storage if you want to record a significant number of television programs. External hard drives are an easy and affordable way to add additional storage space. Consider a drive with at least 60 gigabytes of storage capacity for building a digital video library.

Can The Iphone Be Used With Straight Talk

By obtaining the right Straight Talk SIM, you can use an iPhone on Straight Talk's service.

Straight Talk is a TracFone Wireless plan offered by Walmart. It gives users unlimited talk, text and data for approximately $45 per month at the time of publication. The iPhone, however, is only available through AT&T and Verizon, with a monthly bill of approximately $100. The advantage of using the iPhone on the Straight Talk network is obvious -- a cheaper bill with the same great phone. You can do this, but it takes some maneuvering.

SIM Cards and GSM

The iPhone can be used with other networks because it runs on the GSM network. All phones on the GSM network come with interchangeable SIM cards. These little chip cards can be replaced with other SIM cards from other networks, enabling you to use other service providers with your iPhone. This "unlocking" process works only with the AT&T iPhone, because Verizon's iPhone doesn't have a SIM card. Straight Talk offers both GSM and CDMA networks, so a few phones have SIM cards. These cards can be used in the AT&T iPhone, giving you Straight Talk service.

Things Needed

Only two Straight Talk phones have SIM cards that work in the AT&T iPhone at the time of publication: the Nokia E71 and 6790. Purchase one of these phones from Walmart; not online, as you can't be sure that it contains the SIM card you're looking for. You also need a SIM card cutter, because the AT&T iPhone uses a micro SIM card and Straight Talk's GSM phones have regular SIM card. You need an iPhone 3, 3Gs or 4; earlier models haven't been proven to work with Straight Talk SIM cards.

Talk and Text

To use talk and text on your iPhone, you must first activate your Straight Talk phone. Follow the instructions on the package for activation. Next, remove the Straight Talk SIM card from the Nokia phone that you just activated. Insert the SIM card into the SIM card cutter with the gold circuit facing out of the bottom. Press down on the handle of the SIM card cutter. The excess plastic around the outside of the SIM will be removed, creating a micro SIM card. Remove the SIM card from your iPhone and insert the micro SIM card from your Straight Talk phone. Your iPhone should now allow you to make and receive phone calls, as well as text messages on the Straight Talk network. No unlocking is necessary.

Internet

Your Straight Talk iPhone now has talk and text, but no Internet and no multimedia messaging, or MMS. You can get 3G Internet working on your iPhone without jailbreaking the device, but you must jailbreak it to use MMS. If you can live without MMS but need Internet, it's easy: Connect your iPhone to a Wi-Fi connection and log onto http://unlockit.co.nz on its Safari browser. Touch the "continue" button that appears on the Web page; then touch "Custom APN." Type "att.mvno" without the quotation marks into the APN field, leaving the user name, carrier and password fields blank. Touch the "Create Profile" button and then follow the on-screen prompts to install the new profile. Once the profile has been installed, you should receive 3G Internet through your Straight Talk iPhone.

MMS

Multimedia messaging enables you to send and receive pictures and videos by way of your mobile phone. To get MMS abilities on your Straight Talk iPhone, you must first jailbreak it and install the Cydia Installer app. After you have Cydia, open the app and click the "Search" button at the bottom of the screen. Type "TetherMe" into the search bar and touch the result that says "TetherMe." Click the "Install" button in the upper right corner of the screen; then click "Confirm." After the app has installed, click "Return to Cydia." Then click the "Home" button on your iPhone. You should now be able to send and receive MMS messages for free. Your Straight Talk iPhone should be a fully functioning iPhone on the Straight Talk network.

Warning

Jailbreaking your device isn't illegal, but it does void your iPhone warranty. In addition, modifying its hardware contents or adding alternate SIM cards may also void the device's warranty. If you want to jailbreak your iPhone or swap out its SIM card, do so at your own risk.

If you're a gamer looking for a way to escape your Muggle existence, you can find enjoyment in author J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter universe through dozens of games available on a wide variety of consoles, the PC, and in board game form.

Video Games

Harry Potter games have been especially popular after the start of the movie releases. Since the first movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, these movie based games lets you move through Harry Potter's world, experiencing the story in his own shoes. For every movie released there has been an accompanying game release of the same name, generally marketed in the same time period, including a few best selling games like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and the latest, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. These games tend to be of the action adventure game genre, focusing on the story and the characters, with action interspersed in the form of mini games.

Not all Harry Potter video games have tried to recreate the movies. For lovers of the game of Quidditch, Electronic Arts released the game Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup for the PS2, XBOX, Game Cube, and Gameboy Advance consoles. In this game release you can experience the famous game from atop a broomstick competing against recognizable characters from the Harry Potter story, including Harry, Cho, Malfoy, and the Weasley Twins.

There are a host of other games video games for you to play based in the Harry Potter universe online. These games are usually short flash games made without official sanction, but in order to play all you'll need is a browser equipped with Adobe Flash Player. The flash games offer up a wide variety of Potter experiences for you to play through, including a Potter version of the classic Pong called Quiddich Pong, to broom flight simulators like Broomstix. There's even a Hogwarts Student creator that allows you to build your own novice wizard.

Trivia Games

If you enjoy trivia, the world of Harry Potter has been especially fruitful for trivia game makers. The company Screenlife has released multiple versions of the Scene it? The two first books, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets, each have trivia games devoted entirely to them. For a game covering all seven books, you can play the hand-held game 20Q Harry Potter, an electronic 20 questions game of all things Potter.

Board Games

Harry Potter and his schoolmates have made it into board game form as well. There's a Harry Potter version of Clue, called Harry Potter Mystery at Hogwarts, and a Harry Potter version of Uno. You can play harry Potter trading card games, and card based dueling games. You can participate in a contest for House Cup in the Harry Potter Hogwarts House Cup Challenge Adventure, and even play a game of Quidditch with the Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire Quidditch Dice Game.

Make An Antenna Booster

Boost your cell phone's signal with a homemade antenna.

Antennas are used to process signals in devices such as radios, cell phones, computers and televisions. Antenna boosters help these devices by providing a larger or additional antenna to pick up signals when low signals are present. Commercial antenna boosters can be expensive. You can make your own antenna booster in just a few minutes to boost your cell phone's signal. You probably have most of the necessary items on hand, and you can easily buy the rest at any electronics or hardware store. You should have experience with soldering to complete this project.

Instructions

1. Use the can opener to remove the bottom of the coffee can. Place the bottom of the Pepperidge Farm cookie can on top of the coffee can. Solder the two cans together using the solder and soldering iron. The soldering does not have to be complete around the entire can. Solder ten to twelve spots around the cans to connect them.

2. From the bottom of the Pepperidge Farm can, measure up 100 millimeters and mark that spot on the can. This is where you'll cut a hole for the antenna connector. Punch a hole in the can, and use the tin snips to finish the hole. The hole should be slightly smaller than the antenna connector. It's best to start with a hole too small and increase its size as needed.

3. Insert the antenna connector through the hole. Hold the connector in place using the nut that came with the antenna connector kit. Connect the antenna to the pigtail connector.

4. Remove the back cover of your cell phone. You should find the connection point for the other end of the pigtail connector. Plug the antenna into the cell phone. Slowly scan for a signal, and watch the cell phone for an increase in the number of bars, indicating a good connection.

Speed Up Netscape Navigator

Everyone can learn to speed up their Netscape Navigator.

When Netscape Navigator is slow, it can be very aggravating if you're trying to find information quickly, such as when you're researching an article, or trying to find out if a transaction was completed at your bank. No one wants to wait five minutes for an important page to load. In fact, most people don't want to wait a fraction of that length of time. Fortunately a few key methods will speed up your Netscape Navigator and get it functioning properly.

Instructions

Increase the Number of Connections

1. Open Netscape Navigator.

2. Go to the "Tools" drop-down menu and click on it, then click "Options" and "Network Connections." This will open your "Preferences" window.

3. Select the "Connections" tab by clicking on it. Enter the number of connections you want in the blank field indicated. The default is four so you want to choose more than that to make sure Netscape Navigator is faster than the default.

Clean the Cache

4. Open Netscape Navigator.

5. Go to the "Tools" drop-down menu and select "Options." Click on "Privacy."

6. Click on the button next to "Cache" that reads "Clear." This will clear the history of websites you've visited from the cache and allow your Netscape Navigator to run faster.

Increase the Network Buffer Size

7. Open Netscape Navigator.

8. Click on the "Tools" drop-down menu.

9. Select "Options," then "Network Preferences," and finally the "Connections" tab.

10. Enter a larger network buffer size in the space indicated. The default is 32K, so you will want to choose a larger size than that in order to speed up Netscape Navigator.

Get Rid of Images

11. Open Netscape Navigator.

12. Go to the "Tools" drop-down menu and click on it.

13. Click on "Options."

14. Remove the check mark next to "Auto Load Images." This means that your websites will load minus the images. If you don't mind not having any pictures this can significantly speed up your Netscape Navigator.
