A cellular telephone in lock mode adds a measure of security.
Security is important, even when it comes to something as simple as a cellular telephone. If stolen, a person can use an unlocked cellular telephone to make unauthorized phone calls and rack up other charges. A phone in the "Locked" position puts the telephone into a restricted mode until a code is entered to unlock it. A locked phone can only be used to make emergency calls, and incoming calls can be received. However, no other calls can be made in "Locked" mode. The phone only becomes fully operational once it is unlocked.
Instructions
Unlock from External Keypad
1. Press the "Power/End" button on the right side of the telephone. This will turn the enV2 phone on.
2. Press the "OK" button in the center of the external keypad. Press the "OK" button a second and third time.
3. Enter the telephone's lock code. The default code for the enV2 is the last four digits of the telephone's number. This will successfully unlock the phone.
Unlock from Internal Keypad
4. Open telephone so that the keyboard is lying flat. It should say "Locked" in the middle of the screen.
5. Press the right "soft key." The key is above the keyboard, just below the screen.
6. Enter the telephone's lock code. The default code is the last four digits of the telephone's number. This will unlock the telephone. Once unlocked, the word "Locked" will disappear on the screen.
To Change Lock Code
7. Open the telephone so that the screen is facing up and the keyboard is lying flat. Press the "OK" button, which will open the menu.
8. Press "9" on the keypad, opening the "Settings and Tools" menu. Press "6" on the keypad, which will open the "Phone Settings" menu.
9. Press "6" on the keypad again. This will open the "Security" menu. Enter the phone's current lock code. If the default code has not been changed, this will be the last four digits of the cellphone's number.
10. Unlocking the phone will restore all of the phone's functions.
Press "1" on the keypad, which will open the "Edit Codes" menu. Select either "Phone Only" or "Calls and Services" from the menu. Enter a new lock code. Enter the new code a second time to confirm it.
