Check the voicemail of a house phone.


If you're expecting an important phone call on your home phone but are away from home or unable to get to the phone, you want to have the ability to check your voicemail. Checking the voicemail of a house phone enables you to receive messages from friends, family members and business associates who call you at home. You can check the messages on your house phone by knowing which numbers to dial.


Instructions


1. Pick up the receiver on your house phone and listen for a dial tone. With many phone service providers, you will hear a series of beeps in the earpiece if you have voicemail messages waiting. You may check your voicemail regardless of whether you hear a series of beeps prior to the dial tone.


2. Enter *98 on your telephone keypad to access your voicemail with most phone service providers. If you utilize Vonage, enter *123. You may identify access your specific house phone voicemail by dialing 611, telephone customer service, on your home phone and asking a representative from your phone company dial into your voicemail service. If you are not at home when you are checking your house phone voicemail, dial your home phone number from another phone, wait for your voicemail greeting to begin playing, and then press #. Depending on who your house phone service provider is, you may have to press *, 0 or 9; you may call your local phone provider at the number printed at the top of your phone bill to ask a representative which key to press to access your house voicemail system from another phone.


3. Dial your passcode into your telephone keypad if you have a passcode set up on your house phone. The passcode is the one you established with your telephone provider when you initially set up your house phone voicemail account. If you do not remember your passcode, call your phone company customer service line at the number provided at the top of your most recent phone bill.


4. Listen for a voice to tell you whether you have any voicemail messages and access them. If you have new voicemail messages, the messages will play automatically.


5. Decide whether you would like to save, skip or delete the messages after you listen to them by pressing the keys associated with such tasks as provided by the voice on your voicemail system.
