You can make calls to phones from your computer using a headset.
Making calls from a computer to a mobile phone can save you money. You will not need to pay for a land line or cell phone service, or phones. You can use a microphone and speakers to talk to people. You can use several different messaging programs to call people. Some of the programs that you can use include: iCall, Skype and Yahoo Voice. There are a multitude of various other free and paid programs for making online voice calls as well.
Instructions
Skype
1. Download the Skype installer from the Internet. Follow the steps on screen to complete the installation.
2. Open the program from the "start menu." Enter the information required to create a new Skype account.
3. Sign in with your new account. Go to the Skype website to purchase Skype credit or sign up for a subscription for calls to phones. You can view pricing and options there.
4. Click the "Call" menu and "Audio settings." Connect your headset or microphone to your computer and test your audio settings.
5. Go to the "View" menu and select "Call phones." Use the on-screen dial pad to make calls.
iCall
6. Download the iCall installer from the Internet. Follow the steps on screen to complete the installation.
7. Run the iCall program. Choose the option to run the initial configuration.
8. Create a new account and log in. Attach a microphone or headset to the computer. Use the dial pad in the iCall program to make free outgoing calls.
Yahoo Voice
9. Sign up for a new account on the Yahoo voice site. You will need the phone out feature to make calls and the phone in feature with a phone number for your account to receive them.
10. Download the Yahoo messenger installer from the Internet. Use your Yahoo account to sign in.
11. Attach a microphone or headset to the computer. Use the dial out text box to type in numbers to call.
