Convert Wave Files To Mp3 With Windows Xp

WAV files are larger in size than MP3 files, so if you have a large collection of audio files you may want to convert them to MP3s. Windows XP does not include any software that will directly convert WAV files to MP3 files, but many free software programs will. Convert WAV to MP3, Shuangs WAV to MP3 Converter, WAV to MP3 Encoder are three freeware programs available for Windows XP that will convert WAV files to MP3 files.


Instructions


Convert WAV to MP3


1. Download and install Convert WAV to MP3. Run the program, and click the "Browse" button next to the "Input" box. Select a WAV file from the hard drive.


2. Click the "Browse" button next to the "Output" box, and select a file name and a directory on the hard drive to save the converted MP3 file to.


3. Select a bitrate from the drop-down box. Click the "Convert" button to begin converting.


Shuangs WAV to MP3 Converter


4. Download and install Shuangs WAV to MP3 Converter. This program supports batch conversion for converting multiple files at a time.


5. Run the program, and click the "Add" button to select one or more WAV files from the hard drive to convert. Click the "Options" button, and select the "General" tab. Select "MP3" as the output format. Select "The Same as Source File" for the output directory to save the converted MP3 file in the same directory as the WAV file, or select "Custom" to use a different directory for the output MP3 files.


6. Select the "MP3" tab, and select a bitrate to use when converting the files. Click the "OK" button to continue. Click the "Convert" button to begin converting the WAV files to MP3.


WAV to MP3 Encoder


7. Download and install WAV to MP3 Encoder. Run the software, and click the "Add" button. Select WAV files from the hard drive to convert to MP3.


8. Click the "Options" menu to view encoding options for the converted MP3 file. Select "Bitrate," and choose a bitrate from the drop-down menu box. Click the "OK" button to confirm using the selected bitrate for encoding.


9. Click the "Output" button, and select a destination directory on the hard drive to store the converted MP3 files. Click the "OK" button to continue.


10. Click the "Encode" button to begin converting the WAV files to MP3 files.
