Record A Voice Mail Message

Voice mail greetings add a personal touch to answering services.

There will always be times when you can't answer your phone, whether you are too busy, too slow to react or simply didn't hear it ringing. Having a personal voice mail greeting can add a bit of color to the standard message recording service and be the difference in callers deciding to leave a message or not.

While some mobile phones have a setting that enables voice mail messages to be recorded, most others require that the user contacts the specific voice mail service for the network. This method works for all mobile phones and will let you record your own personal greeting.

Instructions

1. Dial the number for your network's voice mail service. This is usually a short number consisting of three or four digits. It is normally programmed into contract phones in the address book and it can also be found in any user guides that were supplied with the phone. Use a computer with Internet access to find the number on the network website if you can't find it anywhere else.

2. Listen to any new voice mail messages that have been left from callers and either save them or delete them. After all new messages have been played, the recorded service will provide you with a list of options, which you can select from by pressing the relevant button on the keypad.

3. Listen to the options and select the option to "Record a new voice mail greeting message.

4. Record a new voice mail greeting message. Wait for the tone before starting and then speak clearly into the microphone at the bottom of the phone. There may be a time limit on how long a message you can record or you may need to press a specific button to signal you have completed your message.

5. Play back the recording and listen to it. The phone will give you the option to save it for use as your new message or to delete it if you are unhappy with it. If you choose to delete it, you can record another message and repeat the process until you are satisfied.
