Software For A Nokia E71

The Nokia E71 has become a top-selling smart phone.

The Nokia E71 smart phone may be Nokia's greatest challenge to the Blackberry as of 2011. The phone offers full support for push email, attachment editing and Web browsing, along with full multimedia capabilities including a 3.2-megapixel camera, video calling and a media player. It's also compatible with a multitude of software downloads such as Web browsers, maps, games, desktop utilities, themes and social media applications available from the Nokia App Store accessible through your phone.

Desktop Utilities

You can download a number of desktop utilities for your Nokia E71 that will enhance the applications that come with the phone as standard or make them operate in entirely different ways. If you tend to find yourself out and about without enough battery power on your cell, try saving your battery with Ravensoft Battery Extender, which works by setting profiles to turn off battery-draining features such as backlight and key tones. Feel safe in the dark with S60 Spot On, which allows you to use your phone as a flashlight, or keep the screen on while playing games. Or save time with the JBak Taskman task manager, which allows you to view the running and hidden tasks, close apps, reboot and clean your phone memory.

Web Browsers

If you're Web savvy and plan to use your Nokia E71 regularly to surf the Internet, download your favorite Web browser to customize your searches or accommodate your preferences. If speed is key, try UCWEB 6, renowned for simplicity and efficiency, or Opera Mini, which compresses data before it sends it to your phone. If you plan on streaming videos, TV or movies, try Skyfire, which plays Flash.

Applications

A plethora of mobile applications available to download to your Nokia E71 allow you to tailor your phone to your individual requirements. Social media applications such as YouTube, Facebook and location-aware Twitter client Twibble are renowned for their ability to keep your finger on the pulse of new media and Internet trends. The Google Maps application will locate you and point you in the right direction if you're prone to disorientation. For business purposes, Multiscanner works like a camera that takes a picture of your text and uses text recognition to allow you to save it in text. Xelnex Lite allows you to record all your outgoing and incoming calls and save them as either AMR, MP3 or WAV files.

Games

The best games on the E71 tend to be puzzle based. Try PileUp! Candymania, which, similarly to Tetris, requires you to match up four or more like-colored pieces to make them disappear, sometimes causing an avalanche that takes out even more pieces. Brain Challenge is another simple, entertaining solution for brain activity maintenance that requires you to complete exercises that challenge your memory and common sense. Another highly recommended game is Chop Sushi, which requires you to complete 40 stages of sushi matching across 15 islands; square off against a series of fishy opponents that want to stop you from acquiring secret sushi recipes.
