Sometimes the Nokia Symbian Series 60 phone can become corrupted or just doesn't work any more. Before throwing the phone away, try reformatting.
Instructions
Series 60 v1 Phones
1. Test the phone, if possible; back up all personal information from the phone first.
2. Perform a normal reset by keying in "*#7780#". This will restore the ini files on the phone but will keep the personal data stored on the phone intact. Enter confirmation security code "12345" to proceed with the reset.
3. Assess if phone is in working order. If it still does not work a deep reset may be necessary. The deep reset will totally reformat the phone, wiping out all data.
4. Start the deep reset by keying in "#7370#". Enter confirmation security code "12345" to continue with the deep reset.
5. Reinstall personal information on the phone, such as contacts and ringtones.
Series 60 Phones
6. Use this sequence if the phone is a Series 60 phone, model number 6600 or 6620 or 7610.
7. Back up all personal information on the phone, just in case something does not go according to plan. Turn phone off.
8. Simultaneously press the green talk button, the "3", and the "*" buttons. Continue to hold those buttons down while turning the phone on.
9. Release all three buttons when the screen gives a message that formatting has started. After a couple minutes, the format will be completed.
