Most phones with Bluetooth capability are compatible with the PS3 headset.
The PlayStation 3's official Bluetooth headset lets you wirelessly talk to and hear other players. When playing a game online, you can use the Bluetooth to talk trash to your opponents or plan strategies with teammates. While it is designed for the PlayStation 3, you can use it with other devices, as well.
Cellphone Compatibility
If your cell phone has Bluetooth support, you can probably use the PlayStation 3's Bluetooth headset. While there is no list of officially supported phones, the headset's user manual says it is compatible with most Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones. Using the headset means you will not have to hold the phone up to your ear, which makes it valuable if you are doing something like driving, using a computer or anything requiring the use of your hands.
Pairing With Cell Phones
When pairing with your cell phone, turn the phone on before you turn on the headset. Press and hold the headset's power button until the lights start flashing red and green, putting the headset in discovery mode. Enable your phone's Bluetooth and let the phone search for the headset. The headset is labeled as "Wireless Headset" and the pass key is "0000."
Cell Phone Controls
Press and hold the power button for three seconds to turn it on. Press and hold it for five seconds to turn it off. Press the mute button on the back of the earpiece to mute the headset while you are in a call and press it again to cancel muting. Quickly press the plus or minus signs to raise or lower the volume. Hold the buttons down longer to quickly change the volume. Answer and end calls by quickly pressing the power button. Hold the power button for two seconds to reject an incoming call. Hold the power button for two seconds while in a call to switch the call from the headset to the phone or vice versa. When you are not in a call and have no incoming calls, press the power button for two seconds to redial the last number you called.
Considerations
The headset's user manual warns that the device is incapable of three-way calling and other "advanced features." If you use "Automatic Mode" when pairing your headset with your PlayStation 3, you may have trouble getting a reliable connection with your phone when within range of the PS3. The headset automatically gives priority to the PS3 so either don't use automatic mode or move away from the PS3 to pair and use the headset with your mobile phone.
