Java Accelerometer Games

You can play different accelerometer games if you have the accelerometer motion sensor package.

An accelerometer helps you figure out the correct acceleration of a particular device, and the accelerometer motion sensor is found on different mobile devices, such as Nokia mobile phones. This sensor senses the movement of your device, including the direction in which you rotate it, and it adjusts to that movement. Java-based games are available for mobile devices with this technology.

Ball Game

The "Accelerometer Ball Game" requires you to move multiple balls around objects and through a maze. You control the ball by moving your device in different directions, and the goal is to get your balls through the maze as quickly as possible. This game is for people of all ages, and it's a freeware program. This means that you can use and share the program without paying a licensing fee. To find this game, go to the Symbian Freak site and scroll down to the Google search box. Click the "Symbian Freak" radio button, and type in the name of the game.

Step Counter

The "Nokia Step Counter" is a game that keeps track of all the steps that you have taken during your day and the total distance that you traveled. You can also determine how many calories you burned in a single day. It outputs a graph of your activity and total time spent walking. To use this application, carry your phone around with you in your pocket, attached to your belt, or in your purse. To find this application, go to Nokia Beta Labs, and type "Nokia Step Counter" in the search box.

Lightsaber

The "Lightsaber" game allows you to turn your phone into a virtual light saber, which is the glowing sword in the "Star Wars" movies. As you move the phone around, it creates the light saber sound effects. You can clash with other people's phones that have the application, and the phone produces the sounds of two light sabers colliding with one another. You can download this application by searching for "cool accelerometers application" for Nokia N95 in the S60Tips.com search box.

Invaders

The "Accelerometer Invaders" game is based on the Japanese "Space Invaders" game from the 1970s. In this game, you have a total of four ships, and you must shoot down as many alien invaders as you can before all of your ships are destroyed. You receive points by destroying your enemies, and your total number of points is listed at the top of the screen. This is a freeware application, and you can download it from the Symbian Freak website. To find this game, go to Symbian Freak, and scroll down to the Google search box located on the lower left-hand side of the screen. Click the "Symbian Freak" radio button, and type in the name of the game.
