Connect A Nokia E71 To A Macbook

This process will work with all Mac computers.

An essential aspect of using smartphones is being able to sync your vital data with your computer, including contacts, calendars and photos. Syncing a Nokia smartphone with a Windows PC is easy, thanks to the Nokia PC Suite software. For Mac users, however, there is no software. It is still an easy process, though, using the Apple OS X built-in utility iSync. With iSync, you can connect your Nokia E71 to your MacBook, and sync your calendars and contacts.

Instructions

Connect via USB

1. Connect your Nokia E71 to your MacBook using the USB cable that came with the handset. Select "PC Suite" as the connection mode on your E71 handset.

2. Open "Finder" from your MacBook dock, and open the "Applications" folder. Start the iSync application.

3. Click "Devices" in the menu bar at the top of your MacBook screen, and choose "Add Device."

4. Double-click the icon for your E71 to add it to your list of iSync devices. You can now sync calendars and contacts between your Nokia E71 and your Mac.

Connect via Bluetooth

5. Click the "Bluetooth" icon in your MacBook menu bar, and choose "Turn Bluetooth On."

6. Press the "Menu" button on your Nokia E71, and choose "Connectivity," then "Bluetooth." Select "On" in the "Bluetooth" box, and "Shown to all" in the "My phone's visibility" box.

7. Click the "Bluetooth" icon in the MacBook's menu bar, and choose "Set Up Bluetooth Device." Click "Continue" in the introduction screen, then choose "Mobile Phone" in the "Device Type" screen.

8. When your E71 appears in the "Mobile Phones" list, click "Continue." Wait for a seven-digit passkey to appear on your Mac screen, and enter it in the box that appears on your Nokia handset. Press "Yes" on your E71 to accept the Bluetooth connection.

9. Click the check box next to the "Set up iSync" option, and click "Continue." Your E71 is now connected to your MacBook via Bluetooth, and will appear in your devices list when you open iSync.
