Tri-band phones are wireless phones that operate on three bands. Code Division Multiple Access---or CDMA---and Time Division Multiple Access---TDMA---tri-band phones works on 1900 megahertz and 800 megahertz digital frequencies, as well as 800 megahertz cellular frequencies. Tri-band GSM, or Global System for Mobile Communications, compatible phones are all digital phones that work on 1900Mhz in the United States and 1800 or 900Mhz in other parts of the world. Motorola's W375 is a clamshell-style cellular phone with tri-band capabilities. In addition to phone communication, the phone offers messaging and chat options, as well as multimedia features such as games, photo storage and a digital music player. While the phone supports GSM 900, 1800 and 1900Mhz networks, its messaging functions are compatible with SMS, MMS, EMS and SMS Chat communication service components. The phone comes equipped with a VGA camera, an integrated FM radio, a TFT internal display and an office-quality speakerphone. Pre-installed applications on this phone include a calender, event reminder, alarm clock, stop watch, currency converter, calculator and ringtone composer. LG KS360


LG's tri-band KS360 model cell phone supports GSM 900, 1800 and 1900Mhz 2G networks, as well as GSM 850 frequencies. On the messaging end, the phone utilizes threaded view SMS, MMS, instant messaging and e-mail systems. The LG KS360 uses the Java platform for music playback, digital organizing, viewing documents, editing photos, viewing three-dimensional images and taking voice memos. The phone also features game compatibility, MP3 ringtones, vibration alerts, 64 megabytes of internal memory, microSD card support, Bluetooth compatibility, a 256,000-color TFT display, an FM radio, a WAP 2.0 web browser and a two-megapixel digital camera.
