Unpack Multiple Zip Files

Zip files are a type of compressed file format that allows the user to pack many large files into one folder that is easily uploadable or sendable. Zipped files of multiple types, including text and art files, can be compressed and compacted into one file named with a ".zip" extension. After you unpack multiple Zip files, these files can then be sent as attachments to emails or added to websites for downloading. They must then be unzipped using a similar process, and all of the compacted files will be available in their original format.

Instructions

1. Gather all of your files to be unpacked on your computer into one folder, or together on your desktop. These files should all be .zip files, and will feature the image of a folder with a zipper in the middle.

2. Hold the "Shift" button on your keyboard and use the arrows on your keyboard to select all of the files that you wish to unpack. Once all of the files are selected release the "Shift" button.

3. Right-click on one of your zipped folders that you have selected and click "Extract All" in the pop-up menu. The files, depending on their size, may take a couple seconds or minutes to unzip. Your newly unpacked files will appear in your folder or on your desktop next to the files that they were unpacked from, and will be ready to access or use.

4. If you don't already have software for unpacking .zip files, you can download one of many popular archiving and unpacking programs available on the Internet. There are dozens of programs and pieces of software available for opening Zip files, some that you can download free and some that you must buy. One such popular program is WinRAR Archiver, which handles both .rar and .zip files, and can be downloaded free. It is compatible with any computer operating system.

5. Visit the link to download WinRAR Archiver and save the program to your computer. Right-click on your .zip files and click "Open With" and select your WinRAR Archiver to use your new program to unpack the files.

6. Click the "Wizard" tab and icon on your WinRAR Archiver and click "Open" to unpack your zipped files. The unpacking should take only seconds or minutes, and will produce a new folder on your desktop with your unpacked files.
