An SMS transfer program helps back up SMS messages from mobile phone devices.
People back up SMS messages that are important to them in their PCs to protect them from accidental loss. SMS transfer software applications facilitate easy transfer of SMS messages to and from your desktop or laptop computer. You can restore the SMS messages you backed up in your Widows PC by copying them back to your Windows mobile phone using the third-party SMS transfer application tools.
Instructions
Installing Transfer Software
1. Download an SMS transfer software to your PC. Visit online SMS transfer service providers like GodswMobile SMS Transfer or MyMobile SMS Transfer from your PC and click the "Download" link (see Resources).
2. Unzip the SMS transfer application download file. Click "Unzip" from the Windows download interface.
3. Copy the SMS transfer installation file from your PC to your Windows mobile device. Connect your mobile device to your PC using a USB cable and copy the file to your phone's memory card.
4. Navigate to the location with the SMS transfer installation file on your mobile device using Windows File Explorer. Select the installation file and click "Install" to install the application to your device.
5. Click "OK" to finish installing the application.

6. Run the SMS transfer software in your PC. Click "SMS Transfer" from your windows programs list and then click "Run."
7. Restore SMS messages from your PC to Windows mobile phone. Select "Restore Messages" in the main menu interface. Click on the file ending with ".stf" that has your messages to initiate the restoration process. STF files are temporary files used during Microsoft data conversion processes to hold content for temporary data streaming.
8. Click "OK" after the transfer process completes to finish copying SMS from a PC to mobile device.
