Unlocking your Nokia can allow the use of several SIM cards at once.
Normally if you purchase a cell phone, you must stick with one cell phone provider. If you unlock you Nokia phone, you can use the phone with any service provider and open the phone's capability to use several different SIM cards on the same phone. This procedure not only can increase the resale value of your phone, but it can also open up the possibility to use local SIM cards if you are vacationing abroad, instead of being charged roaming charges or tariffs.
Instructions
1. Press *#06# on your keypad to obtain your IMEI (serial) number. Contact Nokia customer service at 1-866-596-6542 and give the representative that IMEI number for your phone. The Nokia customer service person will take this number, and punch it into a special calculator to convert it to find a universal unlock code for your Nokia phone. This code that they will provide you at that time will only work once on that specific phone. If you have any other phones that you want to unlock, you have to get different codes for each.
2. Go into your local Nokia supplier and ask if it can unlock your Nokia for you. If your particular supplier has the unlocking hardware to do this, the sales representative should be trained to use it. This procedure should only take a couple of minutes.
3. Find an online company that specializes in unlocking phones or go to your local phone repair center. These companies can provide an unlock code that you can enter into your phone to unlock it. Unfortunately, there are no free codes available from these companies to unlock this model of Nokia phone.
4. Purchase an unlock cable and the software to go with it that is specifically designed for the Nokia 6205. These can be purchased from many different online companies that specialize in unlocking cell phones. Download the software from the disk that is provided with your purchase and follow the prompts. When prompted by the software, connect the end of the cable that fits into your Nokia phone and the other end, which will fit into you USB port of your computer. Make sure you have the correct operating system on your computer before you purchase this software package.
