Connect To A Linksys Vpn

You can configure Linksys routers to provide VPN connections.

Virtual private networks, most often referred to by the acronym VPN, allow for users either in different offices or remote locations, like on the road while traveling for work, to have access to all of the databases and files available at the main office. However, home users can and do create their own, small VPNs so they can access their home computers from a remote location. You can connect to a Linksys VPN with a few simple steps.

Instructions

1. Enter your private IP address into your browser's address bar to connect to the Linksys router. Enter your username and password at the prompt.

2. Select the "Security" tab and then click on "VPN." Using the "Tunnel Entry" list box, select "IPSec VPN Tunnel." Enter the tunnel name in the text box.

3. Locate the "Local Secure Group" section and select "Subnet" from the list box. Enter the internal IP address.

4. Identify the "Remote Secure Group" section. Select "Subnet" from the list box and enter the gateway IP address.

5. Select "IP Address" from the "Remote Secure Gateway" section. Under the "Key Management" section, select "Auto (IKE)."

6. Choose the "Encryption" section and select "3DES." Under "Authentication," choose the "SHA1" option.

7. Enable the "PFS (Perfect Forward Secrecy)" option and enter the key password. Click "Save Settings." You are now connected to the Linksys VPN client.
