The Nokia Configuration Tool 2.1 is a free program created by Nokia for its phones. You can change the settings of your Nokia mobile phone using your Windows-based computer. This tool employs the Device Management (DM) and SyncML Data Synchronization (DS) protocols. The DM protocol gives you a way to let your device's entire system know when you make a change. The DS protocol is an open standard method of synching data. It allows you to transfer data between your computer and mobile device, including your contacts and applications. You can change the settings of your email, Internet access point (IAP) and your wireless local area network (LAN). To use the Nokia Configuration Tool 2.1, you must have a USB cord.


Gnokii


Gnokii is a set of free tools that you can use with any mobile device. This program is compatible with Windows, Solaris and Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD). The Gnokii tools use a USB, serial cable, Bluetooth or infrared connection to communicate with your mobile device. You can use these tools to send and receive short messaging system (SMS) texts, and it also allows you to send multimedia messaging service (MMS) texts using the Nokia protocol.
