Make calls using Skype.
Skype, an application available on a computer and many mobile devices, allows you to place voice or video calls and engage in text-based chat with other Skype users for free. In addition to the free services, you can buy Skype credit to use paid features, such as calling cellular phones, even if the person you are calling does not have a Skype account. You can even set up your account so that the person you call sees your phone number on their caller ID when you call.
Buy Skype Credit
To determine how much credit you should buy, visit the website skype.com and navigate to the field that says "Where is the person you want to call?" Click inside that field and enter your answer. Click the green button under the "Pay as you go" heading. This will redirect you to the payment page, where you will be prompted to select the amount of credit you want to buy. Be prepared to enter either credit card or PayPal information in order to pay for your order. Once you have checked the box to agree to the terms of service and clicked "Buy Now," your order will be completed and your payment method will be charged.
Subscribe To Skype
If you plan to make a higher volume of calls, it may save you some money to subscribe to a certain number of minutes per month instead of paying as you go. At the Skype website, click the green "Buy a subscription" button to be redirected to a list of the available subscription plans. Clicking "Buy Now" will open the checkout page, where you will need to select how many minutes per month you want to subscribe to and how many months you want to pay for at a time. You will complete your order following the same method described in Section 1.
Set up Caller ID
Navigate to Skype's caller identification page and click the "Set up Caller ID" button. Scroll to the "Display your number when calling phones" heading and click the "Set up a caller Identification" link, displayed in blue. Select your country and enter your mobile phone number in the field provided. Click the "Verify Number" button to have Skype send you two text messages to verify that the number you entered corresponds to your phone. Read the messages carefully and follow all instructions included in them. Once you have completed this process, your telephone number will appear on the caller ID of anyone you call using your Skype account.
Place A Call
Open the Skype application on your computer or mobile device. Click the "Call Phones" button on your computer, or select the keypad button on your mobile device. Enter the cellphone number you want to call, including the country code on the keypad. On your computer, you will also need to select the country you are calling by clicking the flag icon and selecting a country from the drop-down list. Press the "Call" button when you have finished entering the number to initiate your call.
