Nokia released the E71 in 2008 as part of its E series line of devices. The E71 features a full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi technology, 2.36-inch color screen and Bluetooth technology. With the right headset, like a Samsung Bluetooth headset, you can use Bluetooth technology to talk on the phone while you keep the E71 in your pocket. You have to complete a pairing process to get the Samsung headset connected to the E71, but once you complete the process the two devices will automatically connect whenever they are in range of each other.
Instructions
1. Plug your Samsung Bluetooth headset into its charger and let it sit for at least 20 minutes. The pairing process requires a good deal of battery power, so charging it up prevents the headset from powering down during the process. After 20 minutes, remove the headset from the charger.
2. Watch the indicator light on the headset. If it is flashing, press and hold the multi-function button on the face of the headset for up to four seconds until you see the indicator light flash twice and turn off. If the indicator light is not flashing, do nothing.
3. Press and hold the Samsung headset's multi-function button for about eight seconds. The indicator light will start to flash and then turn a solid blue. Once the light is a solid blue, the headset if ready for pairing and you can release the button.
4. Press the left selection key to bring up the E71's main menu. Scroll to "Connectivity" and select it; then scroll to "Bluetooth" and select it.
5. Scroll to the "Paired Devices" tab and select it. Select "Options" on this tab and choose "New Paired Device" from the list of options. The E71 will search for nearby Bluetooth devices and display then on a list on the phone. If you have already searched for Bluetooth devices, the old list will appear and you will have to select "More devices" to get the E71 to search for any new devices, like the Samsung headset.
6. Scroll to the Samsung headset on your list of Bluetooth devices and select it. Enter in "0000" when the E71 asks for a passcode. Select "Yes" to set up an automatic connection between the two devices.
