Each BlackBerry smartphone comes with a trackball or trackpad, generally located just above the keyboard, which you use for almost all device navigation, including scrolling up or down the screen. If your trackball or trackpad stops working, your BlackBerry doesn't suddenly become useless, as the software also gives you a handful of hotkeys to navigate around the device. The specific hotkeys you should use to move up or down a page will depend on which basic BlackBerry application you are using at the time.
Instructions
1. Use the "Space" key to move down a page when viewing a Web page, reading a message or email, navigating through a list of your messages or viewing your calendar. To move up a page, hold either of the "Shift" keys and press "Space."
2. Press "T" to move to the top of a Web page, message or the message list. Press "B" to move to the bottom.
3. Use "N" to jump down to the next day when browsing through a list of your messages. Use "P" to jump up to the previous day. Additionally, you can use "U" to jump down to the next unopened item.
4. Type the first letter of the option that you want to jump to when you are trying to navigate up or down a list of options, like in the Options menu. For example, if you wanted to select "Screen/Keyboard" from the Options menu, you would press "S." Press the letter multiple times to scroll through all the choices that begin with that letter.
5. Use the "Enter" key to scroll down through a list of settings. Each time you press "Enter" you will move down to the next setting, until you reach the bottom of the page. There is no way to scroll up using the keys on these types of pages, so if you need to move up you will have to press "Back" to move back one screen and then "Enter" to reload the screen with your cursor now back at the top of the page.
