Unable to Remove Some Programs in the Control Panel
Microsoft Windows gives the computer user the ability to easily remove programs installed on the computer through the "Control Panel." For example, Windows 7 and Vista contain the "Uninstall a Program" option in the "Control Panel," while Windows XP has the "Add or Remove Programs" option in the "Control Panel. Sometimes the program may have errors that prevent it from being removed by the "Control Panel." Also, the program may not be listed in the "Control Panel," but it is still installed on the computer. The way to resolve these issues are to open the uninstall wizard that is installed in the software that you want to remove and to uninstall through this method.
Instructions
Windows 7
1. Click on the "Start" button in the desktop.
2. Click on the "Control Panel" option.
3. Click on the "Uninstall a Program" link, under "Programs."
4. Browse the programs list and locate the program that you want to uninstall. Click on it and click on "Uninstall."
5. Follow the steps in the uninstall prompt to remove the program from your computer.
Windows Vista
6. Click on the desktop's "Start" button to open the "Start" menu.
7. Click on the "Control" panel.
8. Click on "Uninstall a Program," under "Programs."
9. Locate the program you want to uninstall in the programs list and when you find it, click on it, then click on "Uninstall."
10. Follow the uninstall prompt instructional steps to remove the program from your computer.
Windows XP
11. Click on the "Start" button in the desktop window.
12. Click on the "Control Panel" icon.
13. Click "Add or Remove Programs."
14. Scroll through the programs list and when you find the program you want to uninstall, click on it and click on the "Change/Remove" button to the right of the program link.
15. Follow the removal steps given by the uninstall prompt to remove the program.
