The Nokia N8 is a smartphone that offers touchscreen technology and a built-in camera. Like most electronic devices, the N8 is not immune to extreme temperatures. Both high and low temperatures can damage the phone, particularly the battery. A Nokia N8 battery exposed to extreme temperatures may become depleted.
Temperature Range
In order to keep your Nokia N8 functioning the way it should, particularly as relates to its ability to maintain a battery charge, you must always store the device within a very specific temperature range. Nokia recommends keeping the phone-and its battery, should you remove it-between 59 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures above or below that range will lead to a variety of problems.
Hot Temperatures
Extremely hot temperatures are apt to shorten the life of your phone's battery. Once your battery has been damaged it will not hold a charge for very long, which may cause your device to turn off unexpectedly. Hot temperatures can also melt the plastic portions of your phone so that their intended shape is warped. If the buttons on your phone become misshapen, they might stop working.
Cold Temperatures
Cold temperatures are also bad for the battery life of a Nokia N8. Because cold may lead to frost or condensation, when the phone returns to a warmer temperature the moisture caused by the extreme cold may get inside the phone. The electronic circuits inside the phone can be damaged by moisture.
Considerations
A Nokia N8 device that is allowed to get too hot or too cold may stop working temporarily. After the phone is returned to an acceptable temperature, it should start to work again unless the temperature has caused permanent damage. In addition to avoiding extreme temperatures, you should also try to keep your phone out of high humidity and precipitation.
