Unlock your Nokia 6555 with unlock codes.
The Nokia 6555 is a stylish flip-top phone that came out in 2007. It has 3G (smart phone) and Bluetooth technology and was designed for the AT&T network. It comes equipped with a 3-megapixel camera and a 65,000-color screen. If you intend to use it while traveling outside of the United States, you will want to get it unlocked. This will keep you from having to pay roaming charges by allowing you to use a local carrier's SIM card. It is legal and often done by business people who travel a lot.
Instructions
1. Turn your Nokia 6555 on and type in *#06# to the keypad. A 15-digit code will appear on screen. This is the International Mobile Equipment Identification number (IMEI), the serial code that your phone company uses to identify your phone. Write it down.
2. Go to a site that sells unlock codes for the Nokia 6555. Three that you can use are GSMLiberty, Unlockster.com, and UnlockToTalk.com (see Resources). Fees for unlocking codes range from $12.99 to $29.99, as of 2010.
3. Type the IMEI number into the website and select Nokia as the "Make" of the phone. Choose 6555 as the "Model" and choose the country where the phone is registered along with the cell phone carrier that you use. Type in your payment information and email address and purchase your codes.
4. Check your email in 24 to 48 hours for your code. Write down the code.
5. Turn off your Nokia 6555 and remove the battery and the memory card. Replace the card with one from a different network. Replace the battery and turn the phone back on. You will receive a message that you phone is on the wrong network and you need to enter an unlock code.
6. Enter the code that you received in your email. Type it in exactly as you see it and click "OK." The phone will restart, and, once it does, it will be unlocked.
