Remove And Replace A Battery From A Palm Pixi

The Palm Pixi, a slim, black cellphone offered through Sprint, has a 2.63-inch touch screen, 2-megapixel camera and QWERTY keyboard. The device receives power from a lithium-ion rechargeable battery that also provides approximately five hours of talk time between charges. The battery is located at the back of the phone under a wraparound cover. Once you remove this cover, replacing the battery only requires that you remove the old and insert a new Palm model 157-10119-00 or similar Palm Pixi-compatible battery.

Instructions

1. Turn off your Palm Pixi and disconnect any wired cables - for example, USB or wired headset - from the phone.

2. Position the phone in front of you with the back cover facing away and the left side pointing down.

3. Run a thumbnail or fingernails along the seam on the left side of the phone and apply pressure in a downward motion - away from the side of the phone - to unlock the clasps holding the cover to the side. Continue this process along the entire left, top and bottom sides of the phone.

4. Place your thumbnail or fingernails on the left cover edge and bend or flex the cover away from the side slightly. As you do this, lift the phone up from the left side with the thumb or fingernails of your other hand.

5. Lift the phone from the right side of the cover. Set the cover aside, and then turn the phone over so that you can see the battery.

6. Remove the spent or damaged battery by lifting it up from the side, and then pulling it from the battery compartment.

7. Insert the new battery. Align the ringer switch with the hole in the top-right side of the cover, and then insert the phone into the cover right side first.

8. Press the cover and phone together along the seam to secure the locking clasps. If done correctly, you should hear or feel the clasps lock.

9. Push and hold the "Power" button until the screen turns on. If it doesn't turn on, charge the battery as you would normally.
