The Nokia 6136 is a compact, clamshell-style phone that works on GSM networks. The 6136 has two levels of security: a phone lock and a subscriber identity module card lock. Create a personal identification number to protect your device's SIM card. You'll need to enter the PIN each time you power your phone on or insert SIM card into another device. The phone lock feature protects your phone from unauthorized use. You must enter it even if you insert a different SIM card into the phone.
Instructions
Unlock SIM Card
1. Open the phone and power it on. When the SIM card is locked, an "Enter PIN" message will display.
2. Use the keypad to enter your PIN code. If you have not altered the PIN, enter the default PIN your carrier set. Press "OK." Once you successfully enter the code, your phone will unlock. If it does not, continue to Step 3.
3. Keep entering the default PIN until an "Enter PUK" message displays -- you will see this after three incorrect code entries.
4. Contact your wireless provider to obtain the PIN Unlocking Key for your device. Be prepared to verify your account details -- many providers will not release the PUK unless you are an authorized account user.
5. Enter the PUK code using your keypad and press "OK" to unlock the SIM card and reset the PIN code.
6. Enter a four-to-eight-digit PIN code and press "OK." Enter the PIN again to confirm and press "OK." The phone is now unlocked.
Unlock Phone Lock
7. Open the phone and power it on. If the security code is enabled, the phone will prompt you to enter the code before you can use the phone.
8. Type in your five-to-10-digit security code. If you have not altered the code, enter the default code of "12345."
9. Press "OK" to unlock the phone. If you enter the incorrect code, you can make four additional attempts before the phone blocks further tries.
