Set Up A Bluetooth Headset For Skype Calls

Pair your Bluetooth with your computer.

You can pair your Bluetooth headset with your computer, just as you would pair your Bluetooth with your cellphone. Talking on Skype through your Bluetooth lets you move around your home or business while continuing your Skype conversation. Skype recommends that you purchase a Skype-certified Bluetooth, although Bluetooths that are not Skype certified may still work. Bluetooths that are Skype certified are designed to work with Skype.

Instructions

1. Connect your Bluetooth with your computer. This is usually done wirelessly by turning your computer's Bluetooth on, then turning your Bluetooth on in "discovery" mode. If your Bluetooth works with your computer, your computer will "find" your Bluetooth headset and then ask you to input the passkey that came with your Bluetooth to complete the pairing process. Consult your Bluetooth and computer user manuals for directions.

2. Sign in to your Skype account.

3. Click on "Tools" in the toolbar, then select "Options." Under "Audio Settings," click on the "Microphone, Speakers and Ringing" drop-down menu. Click on your Bluetooth from the drop-down menu.

4. Confirm that your Bluetooth is properly configured with your Skype account by calling Skype's Sound Test Service at "echo123." Call the test service by searching for "echo123" in the blank titled "Skype Name or Phone Number." The test service will appear first in the results list. Add the contact, and then call it, like you would a regular Skype call.
