Debrand An 8gb N95

Debranding an 8GB Nokia N95 is the process of removing the original network settings from the device. Once you have debranded the phone, you can have the device reprogrammed to use with another carrier. Debranding the 8GB N95 requires an unlock code to remove the network lock. Obtain the unlock code for your device from your current wireless provider.

Instructions

1. Dial "*#06#" from your Nokia N95. Wait for the status menu to appear. Locate your phone's international mobile equipment identifier (IMEI) number and write it down.

2. Contact the wireless carrier that your phone is locked to and follow the prompts to speak with a representative. Ask the representative to provide you with the unlock code for your device. Provide the representative with your phone's IMEI number. Wait for the representative to generate the code. Write the unlock code down, and then disconnect the call.

3. Power off your Nokia N95 and remove the battery. Locate the SIM card slot and remove the SIM card.

4. Reinsert the battery and power back on your device. You may be notified to insert a SIM card into the device. Disregard this message.

5. Enter "#PW+ (Unlock Code) +1#" (for example: #PW+123456+1#). If you own a Fido or Rogers Canadian-based N95 phone, enter "#PW+ (Unlock Code) + 7#" (for example: #PW+123456+7#).

6. Wait for the message "SIM Restriction Off" to appear on the screen. This indicates that you have debranded your Nokia N95 phone.
