Turn A Nokia E71 To Vibrate Or Silent Mode

Vibrate and silent settings can prevent your phone from sounding off at inappropriate times.

Whether you're sitting in a serious meeting, quietly observing nature, or enjoying an intimate family gathering, putting your phone on silent or vibrate can minimize unwanted interruptions. For Nokia E71 users, customizing sound settings requires just a few clicks from the phone's main menu. Learning to utilize your phone's noise-free ringing settings can help you dodge potential disruptions in a variety of situations while still allowing others to contact your mobile phone.

Instructions

1. Open the ringing tone menu. From the phone's home screen, select the following items in this order: "Menu," "Tools," "Settings" and "Tones."

2. Set your phone on vibrate or silent mode. To make the phone vibrate when you receive a voice call, select "Vibrating Alert" from the Tones menu. To access silent mode, select "Ringing Type" from the Tones menu and then choose "Silent."

3. Make sure your phone's sound profile does not override your silent or vibrate setting. Check the top of the home screen display; if only the date is shown, your profile is set to General and your settings are fine. If the home screen displays a name next to the date, you will have to manually reset the sound profile. Do so by selecting "Menu" and then choosing "Tools" and "Profiles." Look for a profile called "General" and select it; then choose "Options" and "Activate" to turn on the profile.
