If you own a Sony Ericsson Z-series phone that has been experiencing problems, you can always take it into the shop or upgrade to a new phone. These are expensive options. One other option is to open up the unit and try to fix it yourself. The disassembly process doesn't require many tools and can be completed quickly.
Instructions
1. Turn off your Z-series Ericsson, flip it closed, and turn the unit over. Remove the back battery cover and remove the battery.
2. Remove the four screws on the back of the battery compartment; two from the top of the unit and two from the bottom.
3. Pull the back panel off of the unit to expose the motherboard inside.
4. Unplug the keypad cable which connects to a port on the top of the motherboard.
5. Remove all screws from the motherboard and remove the motherboard from the phone.
6. Flip the unit open and remove the two screws on the bottom corners of the LCD screen.
7. Flip the phone closed and remove the two screws from the bottom corners of the top of the phone.
8. Insert the tip of your case opener tool in the seam where the top case of the phone meets the body of the unit. Work your way around until the top case comes off. A smaller circuit board will now be visible.
9. Unplug the screen cable from its port on the top of the circuit board.
10. Flip open the phone and pry the plastic frame from around the LCD screen.
11. Remove the LCD screen and set it aside. The unit is now disassembled. Reverse the process for reassembly.
