Use A Nextel I530

The Nextel i530 withstands harsh environments like construction sites.

Nextel and Motorola teamed up to offer the Nextel i530 flip phone, designed for bikers, construction workers, military personnel and other users who put serious wear and tear on their phones. This GPS-enabled device has military-grade resistance to harsh physical conditions like dust and rain, which also protects the phone from falls. The walkie-talkie feature allows for communication without opening the flip cover. Other features include incoming call preview, ringtone ID for different contacts and voice-prompted dialing.

Instructions

1. Flip the front cover up and press the "Power" button on the right side of the circular keypad. Wait until the phone connects to the network and an "Idle" screen appears. It will show the time, date and menu options.

2. Type in a phone number using the keypad and press the green "Send" button located directly beneath the scroll keys. End the phone call by pressing the "End" key beneath the "Power" button. Answer a call by pressing the "Send" button if your phone is open, or the left "Phone" button on top near the antenna when it is closed.

3. Press the "Menu" button on the main screen. Use the scroll keys to highlight "Settings" and then "Volume." Scroll to either "Earpiece" or "Speaker." Use the left or right scroll keys or the volume adjustments on the side of the phone to change the volume.

4. Push the "Contacts" button to the left of the navigation keys to store a phone number. Scroll to "Recent Calls" and then press the "Option" button under "Store." Scroll to highlight "New Contact," then type in the desired name. Alternatively, scroll to an existing contact name, then press the "Option" button under "Save."

5. Call your Nextel telephone number to set up your voice mail. When prompted, record your name, set up a new voice mail password and record a greeting. Press "2" to record your greeting, "1" to listen to it and "7" to delete it. Push the "Star" key to save and exit.

6. Press the "Option" button under "Call" to listen to a voice mail message. Push the "1" key twice to rewind, and the "3" key to fast forward. Push the "9" key if you want to save the message; otherwise press "7" to delete it. To access all your messages, press the "Contacts" button. Highlight "Messages," then "Voicemail" and click "OK" by pressing the "Option" button.
