You can unlock a Nokia 5300 to work with any SIM card.
If you have a Nokia 5300 from one company and you want to use it with another company's SIM card, you can. There are ways that you can flash the Nokia 5300 at home without the need of any professional technicians. It does take a little time and patience and before you know it you'll be using that T-mobile Nokia with a AT&T SIM card. Unlocking handsets are especially helpful when you're roaming outside of your wireless provider's normal coverage area.
Instructions
1. Download an autocode generator. Install it to your PC. You may have to pay a fee for this download; this depends on the site you visit.
2. Remove the back cover and battery from your handset and jot down your phone's International Mobile Equipment Identity number (IMEI). This is a 16 digit number that you can also find by dialing *#06#*. If you obtain the number this way, it will display on your screen. You'll need this number to register for your unique code. Replace the cover and battery and power the phone on.
3. Launch the software from the desktop shortcut or from your start menu.
4. Enter the word Nokia in the section that asks for your manufacturer. You may also be asked to enter your phone's model number as well as the IMEI number. If you don't see your make and model number in the list provided to you in the software, look in your Nokia user guide on the first page and enter the second model number that it gives.
5. Remove the back cover and battery from your handset. Remove the SIM card, then replace the battery and back cover.
6. Turn on your handset. You will see the message "Insert SIM." At this time, begin entering your codes.
7. Try the first code that the program generates (it will display and list several). The code should start with "#". If this first code does not work ,go to the next code and the next until you find one that works for your handset. If your code was successful, you'll see a message that reads "SIM restriction off."
