Sync A Blackberry With Google Calendar

Sync a Blackberry With Google Calendar

Juggling calendars can be not only confusing but embarrassing--if you miss an appointment because you forgot to transcribe it. While it's convenient to have your Google Calendar available on your desktop computer, if you're not always in your office, it's important to make sure the information is transferred to your BlackBerry device, too. With Google Sync, you can share information between calendars. The program can even be set to automatically sync, so if the location of a meeting changes, you'll know it. Installation and setup are very simple.

Instructions

Download and Install Google Sync

1. Download and install the necessary software. In order to sync your BlackBerry device with your Google Calendar, you'll first need to have the synchronization software installed. Navigate your BlackBerry browser to http://m.google.com/sync and click on the "Download" link.

2. Use the menu button on your BlackBerry and choose "Get Link" to access the download page. Click "Download."

3. Wait while the program installs. When it finishes, locate the Google Sync icon on the screen. Click on it and fill in the login information for your Google account, including the associated email address and the correct password.

4. Sign in to Google Sync by clicking the "Login" button.

Sync Information

5. Click the "Sync Now" button on the Welcome screen to begin sharing your calendar information.

6. Check to see when you last synchronized your calendars via the Status screen. This is the default screen for Google Sync. It provides you with the time of the last sync and shows you what changes were made to your calendar.

7. Opt to sync your calendars automatically or manually. From the Status screen, navigate to the Options menu. Choose "Automatic" if you want Google Sync to check for and update new information every few hours. Choose "Manual" if you only want the calendar to sync when you use the "Sync Now" option.

8. Set a time frame for event synchronization in the "Sync Period" menu. You can sync up to 6 months ahead of time.

9. Decide handle information conflicts that occur when you've changed the same event on your BlackBerry device and on your Google Calendar between synchronizations. You can change your specifications to always defer to one calendar or the other.
