Fix An Mmc Card

With a few clicks, you can update MMC drivers for better performance.

A Multi-Media Card (MMC) lets you store digital pictures, videos and more. MMC cards are typically plug-and-play ready. In other words, they are pre-formatted from the manufacturer, and they are designed to work with most computers. However, in some instances, the MMC cards will not work properly, and you'll need to troubleshoot your drivers and the MCC card.

Instructions

1. Click on the Windows "Start" button.

2. Click "Control Panel." The Control Panel opens in a new window.

3. Click "System and Maintenance."

4. Click "Device Manager." A new window will open.

5. Double-click on the MMC card reader. This will usually be labeled with the manufacturer name and the words "MMC," "SD-MCC" or "MiCard."

6. Click on the "Driver" tab.

7. Click "Update Driver." After you click this, Windows will search for new MMC driver software. If your software is current, the Update Driver function will repair and reinstall the existing driver. According to Microsoft, installing the latest drivers will minimize hardware failure.

8. Insert your MMC card to see the driver update fixed the problem. If the card is still unreadable, you will need to reformat the card. Reformatting the card will erase the card's contents, but it will fix the MMC card for future use with your computer.

9. Click the "Start" button again.

10. Click to select "Computer."

11. Right-click on your MMC card in the main Computer window.

12. Click "Format." Windows will warn you that reformatting the card may delete information, and you will be asked to confirm the operation.

13. Click "OK" to confirm. The MMC card will automatically reformat for use with your computer, fixing any lingering compatibility bugs. If the card still does not work, then it may be physically damaged and require replacement.
