Both phones can connect to a computer via a USB cable.
The N70 and N90 are 3G-capable mobile phones developed by Nokia. The company released both phones in 2005. The N70 and N90 have integrated digital cameras, RS-MMC memory card slots and Bluetooth functionality. They differ primarily in terms of battery life, screen resolution, camera and multimedia features. Nokia has since discontinued both phones.
Size and Battery
The N70 measures 4.3 inches tall, 2.1 inches wide and 0.9 inches thick at its thickest point. It weighs 4.4 oz. before optional upgrades and accessories. The N90 is slightly taller and heavier, measuring 4.4 inches tall, 2.0 inches wide and 0.9 inches thick at its thickest point. It weighs 6.1 oz. before optional upgrades and accessories. The N70 has a slightly longer average battery life. A removable, rechargeable 970-mAh lithium-ion battery provides the N70 with up to 210 minutes of talk time per charge. A removable, rechargeable 760-mAh lithium-ion battery provides the N90 with up to 180 minutes of talk time per charge.
Display and Camera
Both phones feature 2.1-inch TFT display screens. The N70's screen has a resolution of 176-by-208 pixels and displays up to 256,000 colors. The N90 has two screens located on its rotating flip top. Its primary screen has a resolution of 352-by-416 pixels and displays up to 256,000 colors. Its secondary screen has a resolution of 128-by-128 pixels and displays up to 65,000 colors.
Both phones have integrated 2-megapixel digital cameras that take photos at resolutions up to 1,600-by-1,200 pixels in size. The N90's camera has Carl Zeiss optics, 20X digital zoom, autofocus and an LED flash unit. The N70's camera has 20X digital zoom and an LED flash unit. Both cameras also have video-recording functionality.
Connectivity
The N70 and N90 run on identical cellular network technology. Both phones run on 2G GSM networks at 800, 1,800 and 1,900 MHz. They also run on 3G UMTS networks at 2,100 MHz. Both phones have polyphonic ringers and can download MP3 ringtones. When transferring data, both phones can run on Class 10 GPRS technology at speeds up to 48 Kbps, Class 10 Edge technology at up to 236.8 Kbps and on 3G networks at up to 384 Kbps.
Additional Information
The N70 has Bluetooth 2.0 support while the N90 has support for Bluetooth 1.2. Neither phone has Wi-Fi support, GPS functionality or an infrared port. Both phones are built around a 220-MHz ARM926EJ-S processor and the Texas Instruments OMAP 1710 chipset. Both phones run on the Symbian OS 8.1a operating system. The N90 has 31MB of on-board storage space versus 22MB for the N70. Both phones have a built-in multimedia player compatible with MP3, AAC and MP4 files.
