Unlock your Suncom cell phone
Suncom Wireless was a phone carrier that operated out of the Southeast United States before being acquired by T-Mobile in 2008. If you have one of these phones, and it was locked to the network, you either can choose to stay with T-Mobile or unlock it and change to a different service provider. To unlock Suncom phones, all you need are some unlock codes.
Instructions
1. Dial *#06# into your cell phone. This will produce a 15-digit code called an International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number. It is essentially a serial code that your cell phone service provider uses to identify your phone. Most sites will require this in order to produce an unlock code for a phone. You only need the numbers, so if there are dashes or other symbols, ignore them.
2. Find a website that sells codes for Suncom or T-Mobile phones. A few that you can look at are UnlockToTalk.com, GSMLiberty.com and TheUnlockster.com. These websites will sell you a code that unlocks your phone for $14 to $30 as of 2010.
3. Enter the IMEI code of your phone into the website you choose to purchasing codes from. Select the make and model of your phone from the drop-down menus. Some websites require that you also enter your country and mobile-service provider as well. If they don't have Suncom, then use T-Mobile as your provider and click "Buy Codes." This will take you to the payment page.
4. Enter your credit card information along with a valid e-mail address where the codes can be sent to and click "Purchase."
5. Once you receive the codes, turn off your mobile phone and take out the battery and SIM card (the white rectangular shaped chip that stores information on your phone). Replace the SIM card with one from another network. Replace the battery and turn the phone back on.
6. Type in the unlock code and press "OK." After your phone restarts, you will get a message that your phone has been unlocked.
