The Nokia 3220 is a cellphone that Finnish telecommunication manufacturer Nokia released in 2004. The company made two versions: one for the North American market and the other for Europe, Asia and Africa; the latter version is called the Nokia 3220B. Both versions are the same in virtually every feature, although there's one major difference.
Network
The difference between the Nokia 3220 and the Nokia 3220B lies in the frequency bands they use under the Global System for Mobile Communications standard. Both are tri-band phones, meaning that they use three frequency bands that comprise the network for making phone calls. However, the Nokia 3220 uses the 850 MHz, 1,800 MHz and 1,900 MHz bands, while the Nokia 3220B swaps the 850 MHz band for the 900 MHz band.
Main Functions and Features
More than just mobile phones for making calls, the Nokia 3220 and the Nokia 3220B enable tasks such as texting, instant messaging, email, playing mobile games, downloading ringtones and wallpapers and Web browsing. Included is a video camera, which produces image quality measured at 640 by 480 pixels, and a speakerphone.
Battery, Memory and Data
The Nokia 3220 and the Nokia 3220B have rechargeable 760-milliamp-hour lithium-ion batteries, with a BL-5B part number. Talk time is measured at up to three hours, while the standby time is up to 280 hours. Internal memory is set at 1.5MB, and each phone uses General Packet Radio Service and Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution for data transmission, with data transfer speeds of up to 178 kilobits per second.
Physical Characteristics and Display
Available in a red and white or blue and white finish, each Nokia 3220 and Nokia 3220B has a length of around 4.11 inches, width of 1.74 inches and depth of 0.74 inches. The weight is 3.03 oz.
