Reset A Nokia 6555

The Nokia 6555 is a great phone, but it is not quite a smartphone.

Nokia first released the Nokia 6555 in the third quarter of 2007. This flip phone offers 3G wireless connectivity and a 1.3-megapixel camera that can also record video with sound. Its Bluetooth application will allow you to share pictures or transmit them to any Bluetooth enabled device. Its media player can easily handle MP3 and other file formats such as WMA. If by chance you or someone else using the phone trashes the internal settings, it is a simple process to reset the phone.

Instructions

1. Open the phone and turn it on by holding down the red button used to end calls. It will need about 30 seconds to power up for use. Push the black button in the center of the metal plate at the top of the keypad to open up the phone's menu.

2. Move the highlight box by using the navigation keys until the "Settings" icon is highlighted. Push the black button again to open the settings options menu. Move the cursor to up to the "Reset device" or the "Restore factory settings" option.

3. Push the black button once again to open the reset menu. You will see two choices at that point. One is "Restore settings only." The other is "Restore all." The first option will reset the phone's internal settings without sacrificing personal data. The second choice will reset the phone back to the factory settings and erase all personal information. If you have previously set a pass code on your phone, the Nokia 6555 will prompt you to enter it here.

4. Choose the preferred type of reset depending on your needs. Choose the "Restore all" option if you are either disposing of the phone or selling to erase your private data from the phone's memory. Otherwise, you should select the "Restore settings only" option. Highlight your choice and push the black button to initiate the reset. When this function completes, the phone will be reset. If you just need to get the phone to reload its memory, go to the next step.

5. Perform a "Soft Reset" by pushing the red button in the upper right portion of the keypad and holding it until the phone powers off. Close the phone and push up on the back of the phone toward the hinge to release the back cover. Pull the battery from the phone and wait 30 seconds. Replace the battery and the phone back. Open the phone and push the red button until the phone powers on. This will cause the phone to make a fresh connection to the network and load a fresh copy of all programming and your current settings into the memory.
