The Sony Ericsson W580i is designed to operate on GSM networks. It uses a small card called a SIM to hold your subscriber information and connect your device to the network. When it comes to codes, the W580i utilizes two different codes--a PIN code, designed to protect your SIM card in the event your phone is lost or stolen, and a security code to lock your entire phone from unauthorized use. You can reset either code through the phone's security options.
