Your Nokia E71 cellphone is Bluetooth-enabled and using this technology, you can connect wirelessly to your Jawbone 2 headset. You can then use the phone without having to hold it to your ear. Before the Jawbone 2 and the Nokia E71 phone can work together, you must perform a simple process known as "pairing." To initiate this procedure, you put the Jawbone headset into pairing mode and then use the Nokia cellphone to search for it.
Instructions
1. Plug the Jawbone 2 charger into an electrical outlet and plug the other end into the back of the headset. Allow the device to charge until the indicator light changes from red to white, which may require up to 50 minutes. Disconnect the charger from the device when the indicator light changes.
2. Press the left softkey on the Nokia E71 to access the device's main menu. Use the middle key to scroll to "Connectivity" and press in on the key to select it. On the next menu, scroll down to and select "Bluetooth" to enter the Bluetooth menu.
3. Select "Bluetooth" again from the Bluetooth menu and choose the "On" option.
4. Press and hold the "Talk" button on the Jawbone 2. This button is located in the middle on the flat side of the headset. While holding the "Talk" button, press and hold the "NoiseAssassin" button, located on the end of the headset near the charging port. Hold both buttons down for several seconds until the LED indicator flashes red and white.
5. Scroll down to "Options" and select it. Choose "New Paired Device" from the next menu. After a few seconds, the E71 will list the Bluetooth devices in range.
6. Scroll down the list and choose the "Jawbone 2" option. Enter "0000" when prompted for the passcode. Press the softkey under "Yes" to complete the pairing and establish the connection.
