It is also 3G capable, allowing users to check their email and surf the web on the go. Though the phone is quite simple, there are a number of tricks and tips to maximize usability.

The Nokia 6500 comes preloaded with background images that you can set as your phone's background through the "Settings" menu. Additionally, you can set photos taken with the phone as your background by selecting the desired photo and then selecting "Options." The Nokia 6500 also allows you to watch streaming video on the web by using the Media Player accessible through the "Media" menu. The phone can also record its own video by selecting the video recorder from the "Media" menu.

Connecting to Your Computer

The Nokia 6500 is equipped with a built-in mini USB port that enables connection to a PC. For the phone to interface with your home computer, you must download the free program Nokia PC Suite. Connecting to your computer allows you to transfer photos, movies and music between your computer and phone.

Audio Recording and Playback

Within the "Media" menu of the Nokia 6500, there are several options for music playback. If you have transferred MP3s from your computer, you can play them from the "Media" menu. Additionally, you can access your cellular service's online store to purchase and download songs. From the Media Player, select "Options" and then "Downloads" to connect to the MP3 store. The Nokia 6500 Slide edition also has an FM radio function, accessible from the "Media" menu as well.

Email and Internet Connectivity

You can send email quickly and easily from your phone by selecting the "Messaging" option from the menu. The first time you use this function your phone will step you through the email setup process.
