If receiving your phone via shipment, the activation directions are typically included in the box with your device. For those who purchase their Nokia phone from a local retailer, a representative will activate your phone prior to purchase. In cases where you have misplaced the directions or when you don't have time to wait for a representative to perform the activation, you can follow the simple instructions provided by each cell phone provider.

Verizon Wireless
1. Dial *228 on your Nokia keypad then press the "send" button to perform Verizon Wireless' over-the-air activation. Press "1" when prompted, which will begin the programming process. Listen for the music to ensure your phone is being activated. Wait for up to two minutes.
2. Verify the confirmation message and wait for the call to end automatically. Power the phone off, then back on, to complete the activation. Place a test call from your phone.
3. Visit www.verizonwireless.com if you prefer to activate your phone online. Sign into your My Verizon account with your username and password. Create an account if you do not already have one. Select the "Account Maintenance" tab from the top menu. Click on "Activate Phone." Follow the directions to activate your Nokia phone. Place a test call to ensure proper activation.
AT&T
4. Charge your phone for approximately eight hours. Place a test call to verify if you are able to make and receive phone calls from your device. If you can, your device is already activated.
5. Call 1-866-895-1099 if you still need to activate your phone. Ensure you have your phone number, billing zip code and Social Security number available. Follow the prompts to agree to AT&T's terms of service. Provide the information as requested. Wait for a confirmation, then end the call. The device should be activated and ready to use within 20 minutes.
6. Visit www.wireless.att.com/activations to activate your Nokia phone online. Choose the option that describes your activation choice, whether you are adding a line or upgrading a phone. Provide your wireless number in the appropriate field and enter your verification number using your ZIP code, last four digits of your Social Security number, or last four digits of your Tax ID number. Click "next" and wait for the phone to be activated.

7. Call 1-888-211-4727 from any phone other than your Nokia handset. Select option "2" and enter your 10-digit cell phone number. Remain on hold for a customer service representative.
8. Answer the security questions including your name, address and last four digits of your Social Security number. Provide the ESN number of the device when prompted.
9. Wait for the representative to activate your phone. Restart your phone as prompted. Answer the Nokia when the representative places a test call to the device.
