Reformat An Mmc Memory Card

MMC cards are used to store data on electronic devices.

MMC cards are a small flash storage card used with electronic devices. It is an older technology than the industry-standard SD card, but many electronics still use MMC cards. Reformatting an MMC card can help fix issues you might experience with your MMC cards. Further, reformatting erases all data from the MMC card and restores the card to the condition that it was in when you purchased it. You can use your operating system's utilities to reformat your MMC card.

Instructions

1. Insert your MMC card into the MMC card reader. The card should fit snug into the reader, but you shouldn't have to force the card into the reader.

2. Connect the MMC card reader to your computer using the computer's USB port. Wait a few seconds to allow the computer to recognize that you've added new hardware.

3. Locate the MMC reader on your computer by clicking "Start" followed by "My Computer." The MMC reader is located under "Devices with removable storage."

4. Right-click the MMC card and a list of operating system utilities appears. Select "Format" from that list and a formatting window opens.

5. Select "FAT" from the file format drop-down menu. FAT is the file system that is compatible with most electronic devices.

6. Click the "Start" button at the bottom of the formatting window. A warning message appears informing you that reformatting will erase all data on the device. Click "OK" and allow the MMC card to format. This could take up to an hour.
