Power windows
are a convenient feature. Anyone who has used the old crank handles knows how much easier power windows make life, especially if you're driving and trying to roll down the passenger-side window. However, all of this convenience is lost as soon as the power windows stop working. When the power windows in your Dodge Caravan fail, the motor that runs them has burned out and must be replaced.
Instructions
1. Remove the screw on the plastic insert where the door handle is located with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull out the door handle and place it to the side.
2. Remove the screw next to the air vent with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
3. Pry off the plastic tab next to the power door lock switch with a flat-head screwdriver and unscrew the screw inside with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
4. Pry off the door switches with a flat-head screwdriver and disconnect the plastic wiring harness from the back by pushing in on the tabs.
5. Remove the door panel by starting at the bottom left corner and prying around the door with a flat-head screwdriver until the panel comes off.
6. Unscrew the seven screws connecting the electric power window motor to the door. Disconnect the wiring on the electric motor and remove it.
7. Place the new motor in the spot where the old motor was and secure it in place, using the seven screws you removed earlier.
8. Place the door panel back onto the door, applying pressure around the entire edge so that the tabs snap back into place.
9. Reconnect the wiring harness to the door switches and push the switches back into place.
10. Place the door handle back into the door and screw the three screws you removed earlier back into the door.
