Replace Nokia N95 Speakers

The N95 is a smartphone produced by Nokia. It features a slide-out keyboard and built-in wireless card. Like any cell phone, the Nokia N95's loudspeaker is not known for high-quality sound and durability. In fact, if audio is played at high volumes for long periods of time, your Nokia phone's speaker is likely to blow out. Replacing a blown speaker in your Nokia phone requires that you partially take the phone apart.

Instructions

1. Close the phone's slide-out keypad. Power down the phone and place it face down. Remove the plastic battery cover from the back of the phone. Lift the battery pack out of its compartment and set it aside.

2. Remove all Torx screws from the back of the phone. Insert a credit card into the gap along the outside edge of the phone's back housing. Run the credit card along this gap until the back housing is completely removed from the phone. Removing the back housing reveals the phone's main circuit board.

3. Unplug the visible ribbon cables from the circuit board's top side. Loosen the Torx screws fastening the circuit board in place. Pry the circuit board out of the phone's casing with a credit card or similar plastic item. Locate the tiny speaker revealed by the circuit board. Unplug the ribbon speaker cable from the bottom side of the circuit board. Use the credit card to pry the speaker out of its compartment inside the phone. Throw away the bad speaker.

4. Place the new speaker inside its compartment. Connect the speaker cable to the connector on the bottom side of the circuit board. Place the circuit board back inside the phone. Reconnect the ribbon cables to the connectors on the board's top side. Refasten the Torx screws to the circuit board. Replace the back housing, and its retaining screws. Place the battery pack inside its compartment. Replace the plastic battery cover.

5. Turn on the phone to test the newly installed speakers.
