Cell phones are not only convenient for conversations on the go, but they can also be a lifesaving device for handling emergencies. However, cell phones can become a hindrance if you do not know use them.
Turning Phone On/Off
To turn your cell phone on or off, hold down the "End" button for at least three seconds. Your phone will then power on or off. The location of this key may vary per phone design, but it is always on the face of the phone and generally marked in red. More recent designs do not necessarily include the word "End" on the phone, as it is understood.
Answering/Making Calls
To answer an incoming call, press the "Send" key. You can also change your phone settings to answer any call by simply flipping open your phone.
To make a call, dial the phone number for the person you want to talk to and press "Send." The location of the "Send" key varies depending on the design of your phone. However, it is almost always marked in the color green.
Call Waiting
Occasionally, you will receive another call as you are talking on the phone. You can choose to switch over to the caller who is beeping in or ignore that call. Press "Send" once to answer the incoming call. This puts your first caller on hold. Press the "Send" key once again to resume your conversation with the first caller.
Text Messaging
In the bottom left corner of your phone screen, you will see an option to create a new message. Press this option and choose the "New Message" option. You can send text messages to numbers already saved in your Contacts or to a new phone number. More recent cell phone models now feature the full keyboard, set up with letters arranged like computer or laptop keyboards. You can only send text messages to other cell phones. If you enter someone's home or office number, your intended recipient will not receive your text message.
Saving Contacts
Type a phone number you want to save into the Contacts section of your phone. After you type in your number, in the bottom left or right corners of your screen, you will see the option to Save numbers. Press this option. You will be prompted to enter the person's name and to choose whether it is that person's home, work or cell phone number. Once you have entered all the information, make sure you press "Save." If you do not, the number will not be saved and added into your Contacts section.
