Compare Samsung Televisions

Flat-panel TVs are among the most popular household items.

Headquartered in South Korea, the Samsung Corporation is among the world's leading television manufacturers. The company has phased out many of its "tube-based" televisions for more technologically advanced models. Samsung produces flat-panel TVs in a variety of sizes. These models include plasma, LCD and LED televisions. When you compare Samsung televisions, consider factors such as size, technology, picture quality, price and connectivity.

Instructions

1. Visit a store so you can view different Samsung models in person and compare picture quality. While a 1020 pixel resolution is standard, some models come with higher or lower resolution. You can save money by choosing a 720p unit, for instance, but only if the difference in picture quality is not a factor for you. According to the Samsung website, LCD TVs are known for their sharp, detailed images and smooth picture, while plasma models have the best contrast. LED TVs are back-lit to provide a state-of-the-art picture. Look for these features when comparing each model.

2. Check connectivity options for each unit. Determine the number of HDMI and other inputs for your Blu-Ray player, DVD player, video game systems or cable boxes. If you want to connect to the Internet, choose a model that's Internet ready. Look for USB inputs if you'd like to connect your computer to your television. According to Samsung's website, LED models offer the best overall connectivity, and are the only models compatible with 3-D viewing systems.

3. Determine which types of Samsung televisions are available based on the size of the TV you are looking for. According to Samsung's website, the company produces plasma TVs ranging from 42 to 63 inches, LED TVs from 19 to 55 inches, and LCD models from 19 to 65 inches. Narrow your search to a specific Samsung television technology based on these size ranges.

4. Compare the type of casing for each model and find one that matches your decor. Samsung TVs are available in black, white, aluminum and a variety of other finishes. Choose one that matches your decor.

5. Ask about installation options for each model. Some Samsung televisions are thin and lightweight enough for hanging on the wall, while others must be mounted on a stand. If you want a wall-mounted unit, choose a thinner model that can safely be hung on the wall.
