What Kinds Of Memory Cards Do Blackberry 8530s Use

Upgrade your BlackBerry 8530's storage with MIcro SD or Micro SDHC memory cards

BlackBerry 8530, also known as BlackBerry Curve 2, includes features that are common in all smart phones including Wi-Fi and GPS capabilities, Bluetooth, a multimedia player and Flash memory. BlackBerry 8530 phones are supplied with a 256MB Flash memory Micro SD memory card. This memory card holds a relatively small amount of data and can be updated to offer larger storage capacity. Two types of memory cards are compatible with the BlackBerry Curve 2; Micro SD and Micro SDHC. Two companies manufacture these memory cards, SanDisk and Dane-Elec.

SanDisk Micro SD Memory Cards

Micro SD memory cards are small Flash memory cards that are commonly used in mobile phones, GPS devices and personal audio players. Flash memory cards can store information without requiring a power source. They differ from traditional phone memory cards because they can delete and update large volumes of stored information at a time. This is relevant to BlackBerry 8530 phones as they hold large amounts of data such as emails, contacts, music and Internet downloads, which are regularly updated by the user. SanDisk was a pioneer of Micro SD technology and was the original manufacturer of BlackBerry 8530 Micro SD memory cards.

Dane-Elec Micro SD Memory Cards

Dane-Elec Micro SD memory cards have features and capabilities identical to the SanDisk versions. They include the same Flash memory technology and are available with the same storage capacities. Price is the sole difference between the two. Dane-Elec memory cards tend to cost less. This could be attributed to the fact that SanDisk created the technology and are is more recognizable brand in this field, therefore gaining a competitive advantage based on quality rather than price.

SanDisk Micro SDHC Memory Cards

Micro SDHC memory cards are high-capacity Flash memory cards with a minimum memory storage of 4GB. They are commonly used in mobile phones, digital cameras, PDAs and personal audio players. They are designed specifically for devices that are compatible with SDHC 2.0 specifications, such as the BlackBerry 8530 phone. As well as offering larger memory capabilities than Micro SD cards, they also offer quicker data-transfer speeds. SanDisk was the original manufacturer of BlackBerry 8530 Micro SDHC memory cards.

Dane-Elec Micro SDHC Memory Cards

Dane-Elec Micro SDHC memory cards have features and capabilities identical to the San Disk versions. They include the same Flash memory technology and are available with the same high-storage capacities. But again, price makes the sole difference, as Dane-Elec memory cards tend to cost less.
