Unlock A Nokia 7610

SIM cards contain network and account information that associate a telephone number to a particular phone.

The Nokia 7610, sometimes called the Supernova or the 7610 Supernova, is a cellular phone produced for the Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) network. As a GSM phone, subscriber and network information used by the phone is encoded on a SIM card. Moving this SIM card between phones will link the phone to the number associated with the SIM data. Some carriers lock GSM phones exclusively to their network. By unlocking your phone, you can use the phone on any global GSM network.

Instructions

Insert a SIM Card

1. Press the battery cover release button at the top of the phone and lift the cover from the phone.

2. Lift the battery out of the phone by pulling up from the bottom.

3. Open the SIM compartment by lifting the metal cover upward.

4. Place the SIM card in the compartment with the contacts down and the corner notch in the top-right position.

5. Put the battery back in the phone. You don't need to put the battery cover back on as you will need to remove the SIM later.

Unlock the Phone

6. Power the phone on once the SIM is in the phone.

7. Slide the phone open and enter *#06# on the keypad. Press "send." The phone will display its International Mobile Equipment Identifier (IMEI) number. This number is required to generate an unlock code. Write this number down.

8. Enter the IMEI and your phone's carrier into either software that generates unlock codes or into a website of a commercial unlock code provider. These will provide several unlock codes.

9. Remove the SIM from the phone and replace the battery.

10. Power the phone on with no SIM card. You will see a message asking for a SIM card. Ignore this message.

11. Slide the phone's keypad open and enter the unlock code. Unlock codes are in the format #pw+555 123 456 1+1#. Press send. If the code worked, you will see a message indicating that SIM restriction is off for the phone. However, be careful. Entering an incorrect unlock code five times can lock some phones further. This further lock will result in requiring a data cable and software to unlock the phone.
