Unlock A Lg Cell Phone

Unlock your LG cell phone

Competition between cell phone companies is fierce. Their margins are already low, so cutting their prices is not an option. Most companies have resorted to locking their phones so that you can't use them on another network. This isn't a problem if you don't travel much, but if you do it can be quite an inconvenience. The answer is unlock your LG cell phone.

Instructions

1. Retrieve the International Mobile Equipment Identification number. This is also known as the IMEI. To do this just dial *#06# and you will get a 15- to 17-digit number. Write this number down.

2. Find a site that has unlock codes for LG phones (see Resources belows). Most of these codes cost between $9.99 and $29.99 as of 2010.

3. Enter the IMEI number into the website, then scroll down and enter LG for the make of the phone, find the model and enter it.

4. Enter your country, your service provider, your payment details and a valid e-mail address.

5. Log in to your email account and retrieve the codes. They will usually be sent in 24 to 48 hours.

6. Turn your phone off and remove the SIM (subscriber identity module) card from your phone and replace it with one from another network.

7. Turn your phone back on and you will get a message that says "Enter Code." Enter the unlock code as you see it in the email. Do not enter any spaces. Once you've completed the code wait a few seconds. Your phone will reboot and you should get a message that says your phone is unlocked.
